Other artists who have come before me often influence my work. One such artist is the late Helen Frankenthaler, whose approach was way ahead of her time, in a male-dominated profession. I’ve always loved her loose lines and soft shapes… All The Noise (24 x 30”) is one my Helen F-inspired pieces, and one of few paintings wherein I didn’t add any white to the composition. Instead, it was an exercise in using pure, primary colors, red, yellow and blue. I love how they interact with one another, imparting a sense of strength.
