Okay! *cracks knuckles* let's talk about Flowey. Flowey was the reason I wanted to play the game in the first place. I saw a comic about our evil buttercup and instantly needed to know who he was and where he came from. I was NOT disappointed in the least. He is an amazing character with an amazing story all in his own. I was ecstatic to learn about him in the true lab, and loved being able to piece together the puzzle that is Flowey and Asriel. Now, Flowey and Asriel are two entirely different people who happen to share memories. Flowey has no soul, no ability to love, but he has memories about what it FEELS LIKE to love and what he SHOULD be feeling. Which is why he is in so much turmoil when trying to understand everyone. He can't feel anything for either of his parents despite how hard he tries, and he can't feel anything for you, whether you are Frisk or Chara. In favt, it seems the only thing he can feel is fear. Fear of death, fear of losing Chara forever. When you beat Omega Flowey, he doesn't say "I DON'T understand," he says "I CAN'T understand" because he can't feel anything. There's no memory to tell him how he should be feeling and therefore doesn't know how he should react. He doesn't appear a lot throughout the game unless you happen to catch him following you, but there are clues that he is always there like when Sans brings up the 'echo flower' that follows his brother. In the Genocide route, his presence is even heavier as he solves the puzzles for Chara, the one person he's been waiting for and the one person he is determined to feel anything for. *deep breath* speaking of which, the genocide run opens up an entirely new side to Flowey and Asriel both. Both characters have dedicated their entire being to Chara (*cough* Pearl from Steven Universe *cough*) Asriel through his love and compassion for his best friend, and Flowey for the only memories he can properly relate to. As Asriel, Chara was the one who took risks, who killed themselves so that Asriel could make it to the surface, to destroy those who hurt them. This is the feeling that Flowey embodies. His last memories as Asriel weren't of Asriel at all. They were the fusion of Asriel and Chara both. He blames himself for Chara's death as well as Asriel's and has no idea how to deal with the pain and the emotions he knows he SHOULD be feeling but can't. His last memory is dedicating his life to save Chara and then failing them. The pacifist run is spent trying to make sure his best friend STAYS in the underground with him as you are trying to leave, and the genocide run is spent trying to help Chara trust him again, to gain their forgiveness. Which is why it's so much more painful when he is ultimately killed. He did EVERYTHING for Chara, including killing his own father, and they cut him down without a second thought. I love Asriel but Flowey is my favorite character because there is just so much to him. Other people may think of him as an annoying enemy to fight, but I have loved him since before I even knew what Undertale was and he will remain my favorite as I am determined to find Flowey his happy ending. Rant over. *mic drop*

He had a really beautiful mind, regardless of how his depression eroded him away.
