Thank you so much for your post explaining why not responding to series 3 is a bad idea. I haven't said anything about it, but I think it's a really terrible idea. Moffat, Gatiss, and the rest of the cast and crew love making the show, and they don't make the wait so long to spite us. They make the show in part for us fans, and if we don't show that we want them to continue the show, then there is a possibility that they wouldn't.
Yes, well, I think it would take an awful lot of people saying they don't like the show anymore for Moffat and Gatiss to stop making it (for themselves) but it IS something that matters to the BBC. Rating points are something that will always matter for any network because money is money, and they can't afford making something that won't make them money.
I think, so far, the BBC knows how popular and claimed the tv series is, so that doesn't seem to be a problem (just now).
The problem here is that it'd be like neglecting the hard work that hundreds of people, not just Gatiss and Moffat, have put into the making of this series. And we know it was a lot of work because they documented via tweets for months! So, yeah. Let's not do that.
