My students are so freaking awesome. I have flexible seating for my first year of teaching and I didn’t quite know how it would shake out. But so far the kids just gravitate where they want to go and there is enough variety and times to pick different chairs that so far there has been no conflict or they just use their words and trade with one another.Â
Are these really Kindergartners?Â
Another summer project is getting materials together to try out flexible seating with my resource class. It is usually super small groups of 3-6 kids but one thing I noticed this past year is that I have a ton of students with high energy levels that loved using the one adjustable desk I have. I was so happy to find these outdoor pillows at wal mart for $2.50 So I'm going to try it out with the seating options being: carpet, chairs, pillows, and milk crate seats. Work space options are going to be table, adjustable desk, clipboard, or lap desk.
Sometimes during planning you just need a cup of coffee and and a good movie.
Am I the only one who gets stressed out thinking about flexible seating in the classroom? When I picture how it'd work in my class this is all I see
