Ala Mo Bowl Roll The barrel roll when I first started to intentionally do them in the late 70s and as they were illustrated in Surfer magazine were originally conceived as a move that rode the underside of the lip. With all the emphasis on air height, it seems this has been overlooked. Although height in air moves is certainly technical its at least as equally challenging to ride the underside of a lip land on the inside of the barrel, negotiate the trench to keep going.
