Opening of #donaldjudd show at @galeriethaddaeusropac today. I have to admit that I was first quite confused when being in front of his sculptures. They felt like something very architectural but in the same time l didn't know what was the intention of the artist. We had the great pleasure of being shown through all the works by @flavinjudd, curator of the show and also Dons son. "Don wanted to do art that doesn't have any cultural, mythological or symbolical reference. His art was art of the presence, talking about the physical reality we're living in. Something immediate, no other information needed." I had to leave behind all my usual interpretative ideas of an artwork, and let the works just be, with their magnificent colours and their sharp forms. In a bizarre way, the sculptures reminded me of a monolith, something that is just here, with his energy and secrets, like a symbol of the fact that our material world is the represenration of our conscience. Because everything around us, including ourselves, is made of atoms, and finally: energy.
