Just South of Humboldt
SD40A 6021 leads a southbound train on the Illinois Central "Main Line of Mid-America". This image was made just south of Humboldt, between Arcola and Mattoon. The bridge carries the mainline over a stream called the Flat Branch.
The Illinois Central was the only railroad that owned the SD40Aâwhich was an SD40 built on a SDP40/45 frame to accommodate a larger fuel tank (of 5000 gallons).

Weâre in Columbia, Missouri today for homecoming at my alma mater, the University of Missouri.  You might remember we were here a year ago for Homecoming as well, when I reviewed their Cherry Brown Ale andHudsonâs E.S.B. This beer has been a long-time favorite of my friend@jkaiseresq, so I thought Iâd give it a try.
Location: Enjoyed an imperial pint atFlat Branch Pub & Brewing in Columbia, MO.
Ingredients:Â A mild base beer is spiced up with Anaheim and Serrano peppers.
Appearance & Aroma:Â It was slightly hazy and golden in color with frothy white head. Â There was a decent sized pepper aroma, which reminded me of a bit of nachos covered in jalapenos with a little bit of sweetness.
