Goal: This is a desire the hero wants consciously that they believe will alter life in some meaningful way.

Premise Example:

The Godfather: After years of being directed away from his mafia family's business, a young man is compelled to get revenge over the people who shoot his father.

Weakness: This holds the hero back from the ultimate success they yearn for, creating a deep unconscious need within. 

They fight the protagonist for the same object of desire, creating major conflict in the story.

Their actions drive the story forward by fighting through their weakness and great opposition to obtain an object of desire.
