Hi Skull - I was wondering if you had ever checked out the Skullduggery Pleasant series? It's about this guy who is a skeleton and this girl who is completely badass (and a supporting cast full of really cool ladies and all the characters are incredibly loveable really) and there's magic and queer characters and stuff. It's a kids book series but it doesn't talk down to them and it does the whole "growing up with the audience" thing plus it's really funny! I think it's right up your alley really
You know what, I have seen a lot of things for this series!! And as it happens I have been meaning to look into it to see if it is worth getting into, but personal recommendations always hold a lot more weight.
Also one of the main characters is a skeleton what more could I want??
