akafuri fake relationship AU:
In a turn of events Furihata Kouki was given the chance to date the wealthy son of the Akashi corporation. Seijuurou had offered to give Kouki a chance to “trial” their relationship, surprising Kouki with the offer; after all Kouki had never thought Seijuurou would even consider his feelings.
The thing was, Kouki didn’t know Seijuurou felt the same, not until later anyway. Kouki was naturally observant of others, and as their “relationship” went on, he began to understand why Seijuurou had decided on this situation.
"It’s been 5 months already, Sei"
Seijuurou turned to the boy who sat next to him on the park bench, he stared at the meek boy who looked down at his feet as he held onto Seijuurou’s hand.
"Let’s just stop this…" Kouki’s voice broke "let’s just stop it."
Seijuurou looked forward to the children playing in the park playground before he asked “why?”
"This wasn’t a good idea," Kouki began, his voice was barely heard "it’s just more painful now-" he raised his free hand to rub at the tears that fell down his face, a futile effort.
Seijuurou stayed quiet for a moment before squeezing Kouki’s hand back “maybe you’re right.”
"I thought it might be a good idea, to think this would work. Of course you’d find it strange," he turned to Kouki’s fragile appearance "Who’d be stupid enough to believe I’ve just been pretending, it’s already been 5 months after all”
Kouki nodded before he let out a laugh “You’re quite funny Seijuurou, it was obvious from the start, but I didn’t want to break it off, I was so happy” he turned to Seijuurou, his eyes watery, the sun making them glimmer, he gave a weak smile “but that was my mistake”
"then it’s also mine" Seijuurou looked straight at Kouki’s eyes "it was my mistake to offer; but I don’t regret it one bit." he smiled at Kouki "I love you"
It was the first time Seijuurou had told Kouki those words in their 5 months together.
Seijuurou pulled out his phone and tapped at the screen before he stood up, leaving Kouki to sit at the bench alone.
"I’ll be leaving for America to study abroad in 5 months," Seijuurou had told Kouki "so this will just be a trial before then, it may not even last a week"
"When we part, it will be best to pretend that we never had anything to do with each other." Seijuurou continued
Kouki nodded again, “okay”
Kouki took out his phone as well, and after a few taps on the screen Akashi Seijuurou’s number was deleted from his device.
Everything was just an attempt to make things less painful, just an attempt.
After all, today was the last day of their “fake” relationship.
