i think it depends on the fic. personally, i've had fics with chapter length ranging from 2k to 10k. certainly shorter (and more) chapters means more hits and traffic, but it's rare to find a reader who complains about having too much material (NO SUCH THING) to read in one sitting.

2k seems way too short for a chapter lol, but i think the deciding factor for me is content flow? if one scene takes place over multiple short chapters i'd wish they were one chapter w/ sections. if it's an "I'm publishing as I'm writing" thing i'd understand, though i think structurally i still prefer longer chapters (yeah 5-10k sound lovely)

Okay, see, these replies are pretty in-line with my own mindset, haha! “2k seems way too short for a chapter” is pretty much where I’m at in terms of writing, and I like reading longer chapters as well.

The post in particular I was referring to was this one and its offshoot threads, where most of the responses amounted to ‘chapters should be as long as they need to be,’ but I ended up finding some interesting feedback from people I respect that preferred shorter ones for reasons like attention span, reading convenience, and accessibility.

I just really like writing trauma and about trauma in general, and I think the main thing under that category that I love writing and is technically a trope is ‘whump.’ Now that I’m not RPing and have total dictatorship over where the stories I write go, I have lost all impulse control on this topic.

31. Hardest character to write.

Oh, gosh, hm! Gonna get kinda feminist up in here and say that I have a really hard time writing female characters for BNHA specifically, excluding Miruko. I struggled with wondering how much of this was my own misogyny for a while in various shonen-esque fandoms, but I don’t feel so bad about it anymore because… well, it’s pretty much because shonen authors don’t really give their female characters much personality or depth, especially not compared to the male characters. I’m fully capable of writing a lot for my own female characters and going hard on loving female characters in fandoms where they have depth, but… this just isn’t one of them. Most of the depth we do get from the ladies in BNHA is also very traditionally-feminine in nature (crushes, vanity, being unassertive), which makes me uncomfortable on a personal level. Give me insecure boys and feral girls. I wish Bakugo was a girl.
