Personally I prefer at least 4K? Anything below feels too short

i think it depends on the fic. personally, i've had fics with chapter length ranging from 2k to 10k. certainly shorter (and more) chapters means more hits and traffic, but it's rare to find a reader who complains about having too much material (NO SUCH THING) to read in one sitting.

2k seems way too short for a chapter lol, but i think the deciding factor for me is content flow? if one scene takes place over multiple short chapters i'd wish they were one chapter w/ sections. if it's an "I'm publishing as I'm writing" thing i'd understand, though i think structurally i still prefer longer chapters (yeah 5-10k sound lovely)
Okay, see, these replies are pretty in-line with my own mindset, haha!Ā ā2k seems way too short for a chapterā is pretty much where Iām at in terms of writing, and I like reading longer chapters as well.
The post in particular I was referring to was this one and its offshoot threads, where most of the responses amounted toĀ āchapters should be as long as they need to be,ā but I ended up finding some interesting feedback from people I respect that preferred shorter ones for reasons like attention span, reading convenience, and accessibility.
Low key, if the sections end up at least 3k each I might post them as chapters just to say I tried it, haha, but Iām fundamentally more of a long-chapter person.
