Just baby noodle Arthur clinging to Flambae for warmth
This is what a baby blue pit viper looks like btw:
Arthur calls SDN, asking for help finding his Dad. His voice has a slight lisp from his awkward baby fangs. He warns them ahead of time that "Dad says I look scary cus I look like a snake".
Sonar and Flambae show up together, one to talk to the kid as a fellow hybrid/non-fully-human, and the other to warm the partially-cold-blooded kiddo up.
Both treat the kid to 7/11 goodies while forming a game plan for how they're going to deal with the kid's absent hybrid-discriminating parent.
Robert Robertson returns to his apartment building, planning to slink out of his human-form like it's a pair of tight jeans. He's greeted by a pair of furious-looking supers; one bat hybrid, and one former fire villain. And what appears to be a clone of his younger self, body wrapped around the arsonist's torso for warmth.
Robert reverts into his naga/lamia-form out of shock. (His tail bursting open his pants in the process)
After getting the code word "Arthur" from the Mini-Robert, the elder Robertson immediately spins a backstory. He apologises profusely the heroes for his unintentional negligence, citing his late job interview.
Robert refers to Arthur in vague terms, calling himself his "guardian" rather than a direct title (for now).
It's only when Arthur confirms to the heroes that Robert isn't the "Dad" he told them about, that Flambae relinquishes his hold on the boy.
Robert honestly isn't sure how to hold a kid with a snake-lower-half, but Arthur instinctively wraps his tail around Robert's torso, and his arms around his shoulders.
Flambae and Sonar not-so-subtly try to pry into Robert's personal life, but the elder snake hybrid is stubbornly quiet. They manage to learn that Robert is still recovering from a long hospital stay, and that "Dad" is no longer with them (the implication not lost on the pair).
Sonar exchanges contact info for parents of hybrid kids, and Flambae gives Robert a personal number to call if things ever really hit the fan. Robert is honestly surprised by their kindness.
Snake!Robert now has to deal with some major self-image issues in addition to taking care of his noodley clone, who's too young to even conjure a human form.
