Oh god, they’re all problematic in their own, terrible ways.Worst offenders are:

Cécile Battile: Cécile has anger problems and a violent streak that they barely make an attempt to control. They’re also selfish, have cheated on their SO (Francois) multiple times, and can be fairly misogynistic; this stems from their internalised transphobia, but that’s a cause, not an excuse. For all their shitty behaviour though, they regret mistakes they’ve made, and try and make amends when they know they’ve caused damage. 

André Battile: André also has commitment issues (Battile family trait, it seems), is a kind of a coward, and can be a straight up holier-than-thou jerk at times; he’s intelligent, knows it, and makes sure everyone else does too. He’s also a terrible father later down the line, and he and his kids have a very emotionally stunted relationship. He tries though, and he does love his family, even if he’s awful at showing it. 

Benoit Saint-Claudin: Where to begin. This guy is an unrepentant arsehole. Mean-spirited, cruel, lacks empathy, a jerk to his family and his mistress (who deserves and really could do better), and uses his position as a military man to be openly aggressive. He has a brilliant mind and is a skilled tactician and fighter, but he’s…a git. If I’d known who Tywin Lannister was when I created Benoit, I’d have based him off him. 

Francois Moreaux: He and Cécile aren’t quite as bad as each other, especially not at first; at the beginning of his story he’s naive and sweet. However, he lets years of bitterness and scorn get to him, and becomes bitter and scornful himself. He knows about Cécile’s infidelities and copes with it by having affairs himself, including with Cécile’s brother André (before he marries, though). In fact, he uses his relationship with André, who does actually begin to care for him, to hurt Cécile, and ends up hurting both siblings, and for a while, Francois doesn’t care much about that.

Évangeline Battile (Andé and Cécile’s youngest sister) - spendthrift and classist, Fabienne Meunier (André’s wife)- double agent, Luc Fontel (friend and associate)- close to being a mad scientist, Philippe Battile (Battile sibs’ dad)- worst dad ever

Overall, I’d say the most Problematic Ones are Cécile and Benoit.They’re both kinda shitty people.

Special shoutout to the cinnamon rolls: Henri and Mariette Battile (eldest and youngest Battile siblings), and Richard Meunier (Fabienne’s brother). I’m sorry I make you put up with your families’ bullshit.

The Opera Garnier is truly one of the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever been in, so I like to think that sometimes, when not dealing with Erik’s bullshit, she takes a few moments and really appreciates her workplace, even if most of her time is spent backstage in the less glamorous bits.

Already answered! But, now that I think about it, sometimes I really enjoy writing wallowing in angsty, emotional conversations. How do people chose how to frame and phrase their vulnerability? Do hugs and comfort and acceptance follow? These are important questions, and definitely a guilty, if occasional, writing pleasure.

From Orpheus, play yourself a path from hades:

It distracts him from the fact that he feels worse, as though his body is crumbling like the ruins of the temples of the Greeks, color stripped from his body like paint scoured from statues, as though he is some dead and desecrated shrine.

11. Weirdest thing you’ve ever written/thought about writing/etc.?

The weirdest/silliest thing I’ve ever written is probably this fic where I write modern AU Enjolras and Courfeyrac watching 1789 and Combeferre comes home to find Courfeyrac teaching Enjolras the dances in their living room. Here’s a snippet:

“He’s dancing on the table!” Enjolras exclaims. “He’s actually…what is this, Dance Dance Revolution, French Revolution edition?”

“I told you he was going to dance on the table,” Courfeyrac says, laughing himself.

“Well yes, but I didn’t know if you were entirely serious,” Enjolras says, his laughter finally ceasing as he catches his breath, foot tapping in perfect time with the music, mesmerized despite himself.

“I am always serious,” Courfeyrac says, attempting for deadpan, but unable to keep his expression when Enjolras starts laughing again. “French Revolution,” he continues. “The Never Before Seen Boy Band Edition. One Direction, eat your heart out.”

How I feel about this character

He is one of my favorites! So much so that I named my cat after him. I’ve loved watching his character journey and him becoming so much more confident. He’s such a great nerd who picks out glorious sweater vests.

All the people I ship romantically with this character:

Well he had a girlfriend and then they KILLED her and I liked them together and I’m always sad they won’t just let him be happy in that way since he clearly wants to be

My non-romantic OTP for this character:

Morgan&Reid forever. 

My unpopular opinion about this character:

Hmm I dunno if it’s unpopular, but though he has a hard time articulating emotions I do think he’s affectionate, in his way. Lots of unconscious shoulder touches and things like that, with people he’s close to

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

I mean, as much as I tend to put my favorites through A LOT of stuff (guilty as charged) I feel like Reid just KEEPS getting put through the mill and for no discernable reason? Like with me, I’ll put them through a lot  but there’s always you know, cuddles after or something? They just keep torturing Reid. 

my OTP:

Hmmm well my non-romantic OTP is definitely Morgan/Reid though I totally get why people ship them romantically too. 

my cross over ship:

I would love for Reid to get to hang out with Sherlock Holmes. Or with Spock. 

a headcanon fact:

How I feel about this character:Saaaaam. Oh Sam. He is so important, so lovely, funny and so uncool he becomes cool in the process.

All the people I ship romantically with this character:With Rosie? idk, I don’t tend to see his relationship with Frodo as romantic. I understand why people do, but I just don’t have very good romance vision.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: With Frodo, obviously!

My unpopular opinion about this character:I tend to agree with the ‘Sam is the straightforward hero of the books’ point of view, so idk (no disrespect meant to Frodo - I said ‘straightforward’, because Frodo’s journey, while also definitely heroic and important, is a little different). The fact that I don’t see anything sexual between Sam and Frodo at all?Also Sam is devoted, yes, but he definitely has strong ideas and his own sense of humour and isn’t afraid to tell things as he sees them, which isn’t really an opinion as something I guess people tend to forget.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:He deserves all the world and all the best and all the love and food and warmth he wants, reading about him going through all this shit is really, really, incredibly painful. :( like. Frodo is more of a tragic hero, it fits and it’s painful but you know. Sam seems so out-of-place in misery, argh.
