The employees from the day shifts had all left, and the only person to remain was Jeremy. He had been a bit early to his first night shift, and was now alone in the security office awaiting the guard that was training him. He glanced at the clock - 11:38 - The other guard was late. His attention was suddenly drawn to the sound of the front door being unlocked, opened, then re-locked from the inside.
William made his way up the long hallway towards the security office, a small lunch bag in one hand and a hot cup of coffee in the other. He walked into the office, not even glancing at Jeremy as he set down his things on the desk. He took off his jacket and hung it on the coat rack on the back wall. “We have less than half an hour to go over things before the night begins.” He said, turning to Jeremy. They hadn’t met before, yet the tall Englishman seemed very familiar. “You’ve been working the day shift, right? You should be familiar with the basics.”
