Five Hargreeves/ Aidan Gallagher x F! Reader
Bodyguard + Commission AU!, Smut, Slowburn [important!: This is an alternate universe in which Five has his powers and works for the commission, meaning he is in his 20s and has no ties to the Umbrella Academy events besides his siblings]
Unheard Of
Five tossed a pile of filed papers on towards the Handler with a stoic expression. "Finished already?" She queried, her eyes scanning the neatly written words. Five fixed his tie, glancing at his watch. "Your next assignment is keeping Y/N L/N safe" The woman grinned, turning back to her computer.
"Who and where?" Five arched his eyebrows. "You figure that out, now go" The Handler whistles, biting her tongue from snickering at Five's serious face. "When did you grow a stick up your ass?" She whispered under her breath, pulling out a file.
The file has a faint red stamp marked đđŸđż đđŽđČđđŽđ. "I'm an assassin agent, not a babysitter" Five scoffed, turning to the first sheet. "She's the same age as you and way more powerful- if anything she's the babysitter here" The Handler crossed her arms, leaning back in her recliner.
"Then she can protect herself" "You better hope she doesn't have to..." She glared at Five, bringing a confused look to his face. "Anyways, kill whoever tries to harm her, act like she's your boss, be professional--basically be her bodyguard until I say the assignments over"
Five stared at the long paragraphs describing you in detail, he tried to figure out what made you so special. "Got it" He sighed, picking up the file.

The wind blew hard, whistling in your ears. Gunshots embedded themselves inside the thick tree bark. Your stomach wrenched, heart-pounding along your rib cage. You couldn't tell if you were shaking from the weather or the echoing shots.
You gripped the snow, but the freezing precipitation felt like a squishy dense rock. You couldn't feel your skin, your thoughts slipping into a haze. Five glanced at you, his eyes flickering to your light blue lips. "Shit" He quickly fired the last shots of his gun at the group of guys chasing you.
He wrapped his hands around your curled form, zapping both of you away from the scene. Time warped around your body, making your intestines twist. You opened your eyes, looking around. The mountains were far away now, a group of cabins surrounding you and Five.
He leads you into one of them, sitting your trembling body on the seat in front of a fire. He locked the front door, grabbing a first aid kit from the bathroom. "You couldn't have helped me out there?" Five's laugh made you grin. "Unless you want me to fuck up the timeline, I'd rather not"
You gulped as Five unzipped your jacket and hooked his finger under your tight henley shirt. The white fabric was stained with a damp red circle. "A bullet must've grazed you" He muttered, delicate fingers tracing over your bloody skin. He sat down in front of you, getting a better view of your injury.
You bit back a groan while he applied alcohol and ointment to the bruise. His fingers stretched far over your skin, the back of his hand flexing when he tightened the bandage over your abdomen. "Thank you," You said breathlessly, reaching down to touch the parchment around your wound.
Five glanced up at you through his eyelashes, he bit his lower lip. He wanted to prove his brain wrong by kissing you. He didn't know what it would have proved but he just needed a reason to do it. You squirmed in his stare. "We should keep moving, Mr. Hargreeves" You averted your eyes to the shimmering fire.
"Call me Five" "We need to keep moving, Five" "Right..." Five mumbled, his mouth moving slowly against the syllables. Even though the word was spoken, his eyes just wouldn't budge.

Time felt like it had been passing by like seconds with Five. You became accustomed to your name leaving his mouth, a bland mood always being with him. Five was like your best friend, you found yourself sharing secrets with him you never told your parents.
He was so calm and protective, that it was comforting in a way. It was weird when you first noticed- when you noticed how nice his jawline was, how smooth he spoke, how warm his touch could be.
"What?" Five snickered, drinking out of his bottle of alcohol. "You kept looking at me" Blush flushed his cheeks, running a hand through his brown hair. "I think I'm drunk" You lied, swallowing another gulp of champagne. Your eyes lingered on his lips for a long time.
Five tripped over his words trying to continue the conversation before. "So...-uh-" His eyes dipped at your exposed thigh, sliding closer to his leg. "You have pretty eyes" You giggled, brushing your hand over his cheek. Five subconsciously leaned into your touch.
Five breathed heavy, his voice getting caught in his throat. "You're drunk" He pushed away your advances. "And what if I wasn't?" You inched closer to him, the bed dipping as both of your weights combined. You studied his posture, looking for a green or red light.
You leaned in further, lips so close you can feel his halted breathing on your tongue. He pushed up a little, connecting his lips with yours. Your teeth clashed with him, his tongue darting around your mouth. Your forehead was pressed hard against his. He cupped your cheeks, trying to get a better grasp on the kiss.
The needy thirst clawing at his stomach. You crawled on top of him, impulsively grinding down on him. "Fuck" Five hissed, his pants immediately getting tight. You pecked at his jaw and adam's apple, going back up to kiss him again.
This time it was more pent-up attraction. Five hands wormed their way up to your back, rubbing along the arch. The liquor must have slipped into your mind, making the air humid. Five pulled away, any more of being this close to you was going to make him go feral.
You caught your breath, warmth spreading over your cheeks. "That was nice" You mumbled while licking your lips. A smile pulled at the corners of your mouth. When Five didn't return it you frowned. "We shouldn't have" He pushed you off of him, back to where you were laying before.
"I won't tell" You tried to laugh off the sadness leaking into your voice. "It doesn't matter anyway, you're just an assignment" Five reached over to the nightstand, set a cigarette in his mouth, and held a light under it. "Oh" You scoffed lightly, stinging flooding your vision.
"I think -um- I'm feeling pretty tired, I'm going to go back to my room" You tore your eyes away before he could spot the watery glaze spotting your vision. You felt stupid and all the synonyms above it, you wanted the world to end right now, or one of the several red-faced lunatics hunting you to put you in eternal sleep.
'Fuck, I'm so stupid'

You didn't speak or look at him in the past 7 days. On the 3rd, you complained about a headache and how you couldn't remember the night before. Five seemed suspicious but he always was. You have been on a rapid run for the past 2.5 hours you've been on the run, searching for a new place to hide out at.
The last had been consumed by a group of men using their rifles as toys, searching for your whereabouts. Five had killed all of them without a second thought.
You stared at the desk lady, her saggy cheeks dripping with her frown. "2 beds, please" You anxiously looked toward the hotel's enterance. The tall automatic sliding door was dark, a staggering creak crawling along the cracked wood.
"Eh," The old woman let out a long groan. You could've sworn she was mocking you for a minute. She threw a key across the counter. The metal skidded to the edge, brushing past your thumb. "I'm sorry?" You furrowed your eyebrows.
"Bathrooms are at the end of each hall, use the key to get in" She huffed, narrowing her eyes at you before looking back at her shuddering computer. "Let's go" Five snatched the key, moving towards the elevator. You moved away from the desk and walked 6 steps behind Five.
The elevator let out a few screeches while rising, a broken record playing lightly while it did. Five blew smoke out of his mouth, his eyes burning holes in your head. You picked at your cuticles, watching the blinking numbers rise. The doors opened.
You and Five walked down to room 303, he unlocked the door, holding open the door for you. However, you stopped halfway into the room. There was only one bed. Five put his hands on your waist, guiding you to the side so he could get by.
He examined the situation, eyeing the small sofa on the side of the room. He unfastened his tie, removing his jacket. "I'll sleep there, take the bed" He walked over to the window, closing the curtains. A sliver of moonlight slipped through.
"That's a chair...we will just have to share the bed" Although you didn't mean to say it like it was the worst option at the time, you enjoyed the glimpse of hurt crossing his face. You opened your duffle bag, taking out a lace tank top and shorts.
You looked around the room for another door, leading to the bathroom but then you remember what the grouchy woman said. You timidly looked over at Five who was already staring. "I'll close my eyes" He put out his cigarette.
"I'm not a child. I trust you won't look" You tried to swallow the lump forming in your throat but your mouth ran dry at his lingering gaze. He looked away, starting to undress himself. Your fingertips reached for the end of your shirt, bringing it up over your head.
The cold air hit your skin, goosebumps spreading like wildfire. You reached behind you, trying to force the clasp of your bra off. "Can you help me?" You were surprised the words left your mouth and how shaky your breathing was when Five stepped behind you.
He pushed your prying fingers away, hands flat on your back. His breath tickled the shell of your ear. You felt his bare chest ghost your skin. Five touched the skin of your nape, his fingers trailing down to your bra. He easily undid it, the tight article falling limp.
The straps slid down your arms, allowing the air to touch your nipples. You quickly crossed your arms over your breast. "Thank you, Mr. Hargreeves" You pulled away from his touch, reaching for your top. Five looked away, biting his tongue as he walked back to his side of the room.
When you were dressed, you glanced at Five. He was shirtless, had sweatpants on, and was looking deeply outside the window. You slid into bed, turning off the lamp. The moonlight bounced off the cream-colored walls. "Are you even going to sleep?" You turned over, looking at his back.
"Yeah, just doubling checking" He clicked his tongue, walking over to the bed. The mattress slipped under his weight. Once he got comfortable, he looked at you...for a long time. He wanted to squint his eyes so he could make out more curves of your face.
"Good night, Mr. Hargreeves" You reminded yourself of the 2nd and the feelings came flooding back over again. You turned around, blinking furiously at the wall, trying to keep the tears back. "Good night, Y/N". He said your name cautiously.

You yawned, stretching out your legs. The daylight scattered across the dull sheets. You wouldn't continue to stretch if you hadn't realized how close Five was pressed behind you. You opened your eyes more. "Shit" You sighed under your breath, trying to move back to your side of the bed.
You probably moved in your sleep. Before you could get far, Five muttered an incoherent phrase. He grumbled something, arms latching themselves around your waist, pulling you back in. His essence smelled like fresh mint and faint cigarettes.
You stopped struggling because you didn't want to wake him up. You tried to relax but your heart was beating faster than you could breathe. You closed your eyes. The next time they fluttered open, the sunlight had shrunk from the bed, and Five was gone.

"The Commission called. It's been a month and no attacks. So they figured...my assignment is complete" Five gazed at you. Your expression didn't falter. You poured yourself another shot and topped off his glass. "Cheers to that" You didn't wait for him to raise his glass, you threw your head back as the stinging liquid went down.
You propped yourself against the kitchen counter, watching Five mimick your movements across from you. He stepped up to you, his knee prodding in between your legs. He tilted his head, lips pressing together in a thin line.
You looked down, the proximity between you might allow him to see your glossy eyes. "When are you leaving?" You poked your tongue to the side of your mouth. "At sunrise. Most likely you won't see me when you wake" His words vibrated off your skin. You could feel his lips near your forehead.
"Wow, sunrise..." You stifled a chuckle, shaking your head slightly. Five brushed a strand of loose hair behind your ear. "Do you want me to stay longer" It came out as a statement rather than a question. "No. Leave when you want to leave" You swatted at his hand.
Five chuckled, biting on his lower lip. "I need to tell you something before I leave" His hand brushed your arm, leaving a trail of goosebumps. "What?" You reached for the whiskey but he pushed it further away. You watched intensely how his hand came back up to your face, pulling your eyes up to him.
"These last few months. I had..." He paused, taking a deep breathe, eyes trained on your lips. "I've enabled my feelings to guide my actions. For that, I apologize" He was struggling to keep up the professional lingo.
His words were rippling over each membrane of your skin. "Feelings?" You didn't realize that you were holding your breathing. Five nodded, his forehead grazing yours. You swallowed air. His free hand laced itself with your hand grasping the counter.
He brought the interwoven limbs to his chest. A rapid pattern of thumps pulsed below the fabric of his shirt. A smile ghosted your face. "Why else would my heart beat this fast when you are around?" He let go of your hand but you continued tracing around the beating.
You slowed your movements, hand dropping, the corners of your mouth plunging. "It was nice working with you, Mr. Hargreeves. Hopefully, your next assignment will be less troublesome" You reached for the bottle of whiskey, pouring a stream into your mouth.
The bitter taste silence any racing throbbing in your ears. Five watched you swallow the quantity of liquid. "I know you remember that night- no amount of regressing could make it go away. I should know" He looked away for a second like it was painful.
"Tell me to stop this absurdity and I will. But don't lie to me and say you don't feel...it" Five spoke with almost frustration. "Even if I did it doesn't matter because I'm just another mission, right?" You turned your head to the side, smirking.
"I didn't mean it like that" "Huh...interesting" You snickered, peering up at him through your narrowed eyelashes. Five pushed his face onto yours, lips moving fast while teeth clashed. "Tell me to stop" He whispered into the kiss, hands groping at your ass.
You wanted to utter the words, to make his heart drop from rejection, to make him cower away in his room as he made you. Yet you couldn't, your mind and body wouldn't allow to you deny something you had been yearning.
You wanted to absorb the emotion Five was emitting. "Tell...Tell me to-" "Keep going" You cut him off, slipping a hand under his shirt. His hands rushed to yank your shorts down, the material slipping off your feet and to the ground. Five pulled you up, sitting you on the counter. The cold marble sends shivers around the globes of your ass.
You hooked your fingers on the hem of his shirt, helping him pull it over his head. His messy hair flopped back into place. His cold fingerpads skimmed under your tank top, his palm cupping your naked breast. Your nipples poked through the material from the temperature.
Your head pressed against the cabinet behind you. You closed your eyes in ecstasy as Five wrapped his lips around your necks, tongue sliding over your reddened skin. "I've wanted to do this for so long" He struggled to hurriedly get his belt off. A tent was twitching in his boxers.
Your throat tightened, mouth running dry. "Eyes up here, darling" Five groaned, pulling your hips to the edge of the counter. His erection sprung out easily, the tip glistening with pre cum. It glided over your clothed slit with ease.
A puddle of your essence is gathered on your undergarments. "Stop teasing" You murmured. Five put hand on your neck, tilting your head up. The ceiling lights made you squint. The cold air brushed over your wet flesh. Five inserted himself in with a delicate moan.
"I've been dreaming of this" "Oh yeah? Is it better than your expectations" "So much fucking better" His grip on your neck compressed. His length stretched you out, you felt like pleasure was tearing you apart. You opened your legs wider so he could find room to slam into you.
You clawed at his back, moaning his name. He kept one arm around your abdomen, keeping you in place as he rutted up into you. Your ass felt sore from the friction, tears pricked at your eyes. Five kept going despite the smudged mascara mixing with tears.
You reached a hand down to grasp the edge of the counter. You battled with your unsteady breathing and the timely pressure blowing into you.
Your stomach lurched, vagina clamping on his cock. You jerked your hips in his grip. A glinting ring appeared around his shaft, the veins running up his girth pulsing.
Electricity was harboring in your blood, making spots paint your vision. The kitchen suddenly seems to shrink, everything fading into white noise. Except for his voice, the hot words tickling your face.
"Shit, you're so pretty. All of this for me" Five muttered, his hands groping at your perky breast, thumb glazing over your hard nipple. He leaned in closer, unsure that you heard him through your incoherent babbling, "Right? It's all just for me"
You closed your agape mouth from drooling at his tone. "Yes," You gulped, fighting to maintain eye contact with him. He closed the distance, kissing you. Your head hit the cabinet from the force.
The pain melted away quicker than you could open your eyes. Five pushed his hips into you, rocking his hips. The cord in your stomach began to loosen. You squeezed your eyes shut, wailing at his unmerciful thrust.
Your hole convulsed as cum oozed on his dick. Five's eyes pinched shut, his mouth hung open. His hips buckled before he pulled out. White ropes decorated the spot between your shaking legs.
The lights drained the last bit of life you had. You leaned against the the cabinet, trying to catch a steady flow of air. Every muscle was aching, you couldn't even move.
It was silent for a while, both of you breathing heavily. "I'll clean the mess so you can get some rest" Five glanced at the clock, and he helped you off the counter, guiding you to the bathroom.
You blushed from embarrassment as your feet wobbled to take another step. "Do you need help taking a shower?" He smirked, looking down at you. "Fuck off" You pushed him out of the bathroom.
When you closed the door, you couldn't help but internally squeal at the actions. You felt light-headed, delusional, and like a high schooler. Nevertheless, you couldn't deny the bursting infatuation you had towards Five.
Masterlist *lmk if this was shit :|*
Her - Five Hargreaves x reader
Warnings - Cussing, killing, sad five, Protective five, guilty five, fighting, injured reader.
I blipped around the warehouse fighting Lila to get to the handler. Lila blipped behind me and knocked me down, putting a gun toward my head. "Oh, five why do you try?" The handler stood above me smiling. "Give her back and you live very simple." I huffed, my lungs burning a little as I do, from being tossed around like a five-year-olds stuffed toy for half an hour. "Live? Babe you're the one on the ground with a gun in your face!" Lila puzzled pointing the gun closer to my head. "Hush! Lila."
"Look you want your wife back fine; you can have her back. Only if you kill some culprit ass holes for me. Kay?" "Who?" "The head of the commissions." I looked at her skeptically, she pulled out a phone from her pocket and hovered it over me. It was Y/n my wife of thirty-nine years. In a bath being electrocuted. "You Bitch!" "Kill he commission leaders, or I kill the girl!" "She's your own daughter you sick fuck!" "I'm growing impatient five." "If I do this, she comes back to me?" She nods, "Can you make her like me?" "Like you?" she asked, "a pervy little schoolboy?" Lila chimed in looking in between me and the handler.
"Yes, I can do that. Only if you hold up your end of the bargain." "Deal." I blip out of their and went to the location they sent me to. I promised Y/n I was done with the killing. I promised that we would finally settle down. I promised. Now look she is in a prison being tortured while I am free, living free.
Free and selfish, selfish because show is going to be a teenager again with the mind of a fifty-six-year-old. She is going to be like me. I know it's horrible to do that to her, but I can't lose her again. The thought of getting her and her leaving is worthy enough to just let the world end.
Hell, the only reason I saved the world in the first place is to make sure we meet.
I kill the board quickly. Not giving anyone a chance. Y/n is getting out today. I blip back fish in bag, handing it to the handler not even looking into her eyes. "Oh, well done didn't think you had the stomach anymore." "Yeah, that's great, Y/n." "Relax, Lila!" Lila came striding out holding a young girl in her arms. She was unconscious and put her in my arms.
I immediately blipped not looking at any of them. I came back to the base, Luther and Diego start shooting off tons of questions. I place her on the couch ignoring them. "Five?! Where were you!? Is that Blood!? Who is that!?" "Luther, could you do me a favor and shut the hell up can't you see she is sleeping!" I yelled in a hushed tone to the two gorillas. "Five where did you get the kid?" "You didn't kidnap her di you?" He asked more calmly as I stared down at her. "No, she's, my wife." "Wha-" "Luther." Diego interjected as I got up and tended to her wounds. I started cleaning when I stopped to admire her. Her delicate features, her H/c, everything she looks the same that she did in her twenties, just smaller.
The whole family came rushing into the loft. I could hear Luther and Diego explain everything they knew to them. "Wait five has feelings?" Kaus whispered. "Oh, Y/n my beautiful Delores." A tear escaped my eye as I held her hand. "Delores? like the manikin?" "Delores means sorrow, I called her Delores when one of us were sad. It's a nice way of saying 'I need you'. I made a deal with the commission handler to get her back, and to make her like me. I'll explain the rest when it's important. Let's give her some rest."
I stayed looking down at my love, pecking her on the lips delicately. "Nigh my sweet sorrow."

Thereâs just something different when Five lays with you like this. The air in his lungs decides to take its time, and his eyelids seem to operate on a slower setting. Somehow, the intersection of your limbs sets him free.
Patch Me Up
Hello, Iâm back friends!! Things have been so busy lately, but I couldnât stay away for too long! Of course I wrote this at 11 pm instead of translating Homer like I was supposed to be lmao. This is probably terrible but I figured Iâd post it bc why not ¯\_(ă)_/ÂŻ Enjoy!
Warnings: language, blood/injury, cheesy a$$ fluff
Note: This fic is aged up, as always!
Eyes heavy and muscles aching, you turn your key in the door.
The routine after a big fight was always the same: kick your shoes off, fumble through your dark apartment, and try not to think about whatever shitshow you just survived. But tonight, your side stung a little too much, and the blood seeping through your white t-shirt sent a shiver down your spine. Once you locked your door, you shuffled over to the bathroom sink to take inventory of your wounds. Lifting your shirt with a wince, your suspicions were confirmed. It was a shallow cut, you wouldnât need stitches...but it was a pretty long gash, and it was definitely aggravated from rubbing against your shirt. In addition to the knife wound, you had a large bruise on your cheek, and your arms were peppered with little bruises from where the attacker grabbed you. Suddenly you froze, bile rising in your throat at the reminder of his pockmarked face and sadistic grin. Refusing to linger on the memory for too long, you splashed some water on your face, but grimaced when the action sent a searing pain into the laceration across your rib. Your vision turned white for a moment as you swayed, briefly losing your balance. Leaning your back against the bathroom wall for stability, you slid down to sit on the cold linoleum floor, head back, as you rubbed your knees in an effort to busy your shaking hands. Suddenly aware of hushed breathing coming from the doorway, you looked up, startled. To your surprise, Five Hargreeves stood in the doorway, watching you coolly. You two had a complicated relationship, constantly competing to be savior of the city. Over the 5 years you had known each other, you had never seen him smile; he was all business, all the time. What he was doing in your house on a Tuesday night, however, you couldnât say. You were pulled from your thoughts as you felt his eyes on you.
âWhat happened?â He asks after a pause.
âOn my way home from work I saw the Baxter Street gang following a young woman down 5th avenue, and I tried to take them on my own.â You hesitated, your pride wounded. â...It didnât go so well.â
Five rolled his eyes, and muttered, âYeah, I can see that.â
His jaw clenched and unclenched as his gaze slid over you. You watched him back intensely, surprised to catch a momentary glimpse of alarm in his eyes as he took in your bloody shirt and bruised cheek.
âStand up,â he commanded.
Confused but too tired to argue, you began to rise to your feet, but not without muttering an indignant âWhat are you even doing here?â
To your embarrassment, the moment you stepped away from the wall you faltered, and he blinked across the room to catch you before you hit the ground. With his left hand resting on your back, and his right gripping your hip beneath your shirt, he guided you to an upright position wordlessly.
Through your haze of pain, you noted deliriously that he was making a suspiciously low number of snide remarks about your current position.
He lifted you up effortlessly and sat you on the countertop.
âCan I take this off?â he motioned to your shirt. Trying very hard to ignore the blush spreading to his ears, you whispered a faint, âYes.â
The electricity skyrocketed when your eyes met, the tension of the moment visible in the slope of your shoulders, and Fiveâs bobbing adam's apple.
In a swift motion, he lifted the shirt up and stoically began cleaning your wound. You searched for any sign of concern in his face, but he showed none. Silently he worked, your heavy breathing and the buzzing electric lights the only sounds in the bathroom. Once he had disinfected the gash and carefully wrapped bandages around your waist, he quickly straightened and removed his sweater. Clearing his throat, he looked away and said casually, âPut this on.â
However grateful you were for his first aid skills, you began to grow shy at Fiveâs unceremonious kindness towards you. Fidgeting with the hem of your bloodstained shirt, you stubbornly said, âOh thanks, but Iâm actually perfectly comfortable in this. Itâs actually designer-â
âPut it on,â he interrupted, his tone rising. A voice crack betrayed his attempt at austerity as he reigned himself in once more: âIâm not going to ask again.â
He left you staring, sweater in hand, as he turned to face away from you.
âFine, fine... Thank you,â you conceded. You slipped off your soiled shirt with a wince, and put on Fiveâs sweater. It was soft -really soft- and smelled like leather and pine. You let out a breath you didnât realize you were holding.
Echoing off the wall came a muffled and surprisingly gentle âYouâre welcome.â
âYou can turn around now, Robin Hood,â you called, in a half-hearted attempt at sarcasm. You had hoped that in using your usual nickname for him it would ease the tension in the room, but it did the opposite if anything. But maybe, you thought to yourself, the tension wasnât necessarily unpleasant.
The two of you made your way to the couch in your living room, and within minutes Five had helped himself to your kitchen and returned with steaming mugs of tea.
Now you sat, side by side, staring into the swirling vapor rising from your cups.
Five broke the awkward silence: âYou shouldnât have tried to take on that gang by yourself, especially when youâre not prepared. That stab wound was worse than it looked, y/n. You could have been seriously hurt.â He hesitated,â Or worse.â
âSince when do you tell me what to do, Five?â you responded, heat rising to your cheeks. âYouâre not my partner, youâre my competition. And what do you care, anyway? If I died, youâd have everything you ever wanted! Theyâd hand you the fucking key to the city!â Your emotions overtook you, exhaustion having decimated any boundaries you might have clung to otherwise. âSo why the hell are you on my couch, and why am I wearing your sweater, and why does it smell so good?â
Shit.
To your surprise, Five Hargreeves laughed. He sat in front of you, mug of peppermint tea in hand, laughing. Miracles do happen, you joked to yourself, awestruck.
His laughter slowed, and your face burned bright red in the soft glow of your table lamp.
âDo you really not know why Iâm here?â he asked in a low voice, suddenly more serious.
You shivered.
Closing the distance of the couch, he reached out and caressed the bruise on your cheek after a brief moment of hesitation. The uncharacteristic warmth in his eyes made yours shimmer with tears, and you werenât quite sure why. It had been a long time since anyone looked at you like that.
âIâm here because not only would I care if you fell into harmâs way, I wouldnât be able to live with myself. Itâs impossible not to notice you when weâre both out there, trying to keep everyone safe. Youâre brave, and strong, and kind. To be honest, youâre the reason I keep fighting for this city, your selfless desire to protect and care for others...I just never knew how to tell you. It didnât seem right. But when I heard you had gotten hurt, I imagined the worst, and I just... well, I just had to tell you.â
Your heart swelled, and suddenly he was kissing your lips, his eyelashes fluttering against your cheek. One hand rested on your thigh, and his other was combing through your hair. The moment was tender and new and so very fragile, the opposite of everything you had known about Five Hargreeves. He shifted his position and leaned down to place a gentle kiss on the bruise on your cheek. You leaned into him, finally allowing yourself to give in to your fatigue from the eveningâs events. Five quietly took you into his arms and began rubbing your back, calming you even further.
Normally physical touch made you shrink up, but somehow the man beside you was learning how to break down your barriers at lightning speed. Perhaps you had been closer to each other than you realized for quite some time.
In all the excitement, you felt your eyelids begin to flutter closed as you fought to stay awake.
âDarling,â Five whispered, âYou can fall asleep, itâs okay. Letâs just rest.â
That was all that you needed to hear. You drifted off in his arms, his chest rising and falling slowly beneath you. The stinging in your side drifted to a dull ache, and your tight muscles began to slowly unwind themselves as you slept. And it felt good.
Now that you know what itâs like to be taken care of by someone, you donât think you can ever go back to your old âpost-fightâ routine.
Five knows you wonât have to.

The world is cold. Everything is in ruin. Destruction is all the eye can see, for miles upon miles. The sky is grey, and an ominous chill lingers in the air. Itâs just you, standing amongst collapsed buildings, not a person in sight.Â
âFive?â You call out. But thereâs no response. Your voice simply echoes back to you. You stumble about the mess around you, searching for some sort of sign of life. âFive!â You scream this time. You wanted him next to you.Â
No, you needed him next to you.
Suddenly, the environment around you shifts to a motel room. Two evil, menacing, yet familiar figures wearing terrifying animal masks face you, each with a gun in hand. In between the two of them is a chair, with someone tied up to it. Thereâs a black sack over the personâs head. The figure to the right, the one wearing a bunny mask, rips the sack off.Â
âFiveâŠâ You whisper. There was the boy that mattered more than anything else in the world to you. Each figure raises their gun to Fiveâs head.
âNo! Five!â You scream, trying to run forward. But itâs no use. Youâre frozen in place. Thereâs nothing you can do. The figures begin to move farther and farther away from where youâre standing. You try to run again, but you still seem to be stuck. You feel helpless, like the walls around you are closing in on you.Â
âLet him go!â You shout. But no one listens. The two figures chuckle in a cacophonous melody. Tears begin to stream down your cheeks. âLet him go,â You whimper this time, choking on your words, hoping that your pleas have some affect on Fiveâs captors.Â
âI love you,â Five whispers.Â
âBANG!â
You groggily open your eyes to the dimly light room around you, reality greeting you once again. Nightmares were normal after everything you had been through, but this one was new, and definitely not in a good way.Â
You had shut your curtains as tightly as you possibly could the night prior, hoping that you could get a good nightâs sleep for once, but it was no use. Rays of light poured through the cracks of your white, lacy curtains nonetheless. You look around the light, airy room. Beatles, Bowie, Arcade Fire, and Arctic Monkeys posters adorn each and every wall, comforting you after the nightmare you had just experienced. Â
You apprehensively turn onto your side, uncomfortably twisting your neck to read the alarm clock resting on your antique white nightstand.
11:00 am, it reads.Â
Holy shit, I slept that long? You think to yourself, rolling back onto your stomach, shoving your face in your grey pillow case, partially out of guilt, and partially out of exhaustion. Usually, Five woke you up in the morning. He loved pestering you, and honestly it had begun to make your mornings just a little bit better.
This morning, however, was different. Five didnât knock on your door. He didnât twist the door knob, humming some Beatles song as he swiftly swooped into your bedroom, a cup of coffee in his hand, pleading with you to get out of bed and come downstairs with him. He was always the first one up, and he hated being alone. He had been alone for so many years, that the thought of being alone anymore, even if it was just to eat breakfast, secretly killed him. Of course, you were the only person who knew that. He would never tell another soul. Feelings and such were never his strong suit.Â
Yet, there was something so special about him to you.
You and Five had grown close over the past year. You arrived on the steps of The Academy, crying, with nowhere else to go. Your entire life, you were called a freak, a worthless piece of nothing. But Five didnât see that in you. He saw beauty and strength, someone with a gift who simply didnât know how to use it. You were telekinetic, and you often struggled controlling your powers. Five made things feel natural for you, something no one else was every able to do.
He was always there when you needed him most, and you wouldnât want it any other way.
You hesitate before pulling the plush, white covers off of you, your warm bed begging you to stay. You sit up, allowing your legs to swing off to the side of your bed, your feet slowly meeting the cold, wood floors below. You finally stand up, and make your way out of your room.Â
There isnât a sound in the normally loud mansion, except a slight stirring coming from the kitchen. You silently hoped to yourself that it was Five. You continue down the hallway, your footsteps echoing as you walk.Â
You finally reach the kitchen, and you spot Five sitting at the counter, staring down at whatâs presumably a cup of coffee. He anxiously bounces his right knee up and down, aggressively tapping his finger on the counter in unison with his knee.
âMorning Five,â You yawn, a small smile spreading across your face. Five doesnât answer. âIs everything alright?â You question as you walk further into the room, pulling out a stool and sitting down next to him.
Five swallows harshly, and he continues to stare down at the black liquid in his white mug. âMorning, (Y/N).â Five finally says, still refusing to look up at you.Â
You bring a hand to his own. âDid something happen?â You ask. Five shuts his eyes tightly. Something was obviously bothering him, something extremely painful. âTalk to me, Five,â You plead, now gently brushing over his hand with your thumb. To your dismay, Five pulls away from your touch, grabbing his coffee with his right hand, and standing up.Â
âI donât want to talk about it,â Five says, irritation and annoyance heavy in his voice. âStop with all this worrying bullshit, got it?â He finally turns around to face you, his eyes widen as he waits for you to nod or respond in some way.Â
You shake your head, refusing to agree with him. âSomething happened, and whatever it was canât be good,â You stand up from the stool, and walk closer to Five. âI knew something was off when you didnât wake me up this morning, so tell me what the hell is going on.âÂ
âDo I have to say it again? I donât feel like talking, okay?â Five says, anger growing in his voice, his cheeks becoming red. This wasnât the Five you had come to know, and possibly started to love. You needed to find out why he was acting this way, immediately.Â
âJust talk to me-,"
Five cuts you off, quickly walking forward in your direction. âI told you, I donât want to fucking talk about it! Just fuck off!â He shouts, his arms extending out to either side of the room as rage fills his eyes. You instinctively take a step back. You had seen Five angry, but never like this.Â
If you were being honest, it scared the shit out of you to see him this way.Â
Five slowly puts his arms down, a look of guilt spreading across his face. Silence looms over the room, and Five nervously scratches the back of his neck. His bright blue eyes meet yours. Fiveâs face screams âIâm so sorry,â but he says nothing.Â
âFuck this,â You mutter, your heart clenching as you turn your back to Five, storming away. It killed you to see him this way, but you knew you didnât deserve to be treated like this, simply for trying to help him. You stop in the middle of the kitchen, facing Five once more. âAll I want to do is help you. Quit assuming the worst. Stop treating everyone around you like absolute shit. Canât you see I care about you?â You yell, turning around and walking away from Five as you were before.
You hear Five shuffling to catch up to you. â(Y/N), wait, please,â Five begs, his hand grabbing your wrist. You stop in your tracks, turning around to face him. âI can, and will explain everything, Iâm so sorryâŠâ Five trails off, his crystal like eyes searching yours.Â
You simply nod your head, allowing Five to guide you back over to where you and he were sitting before. His leg begins to anxiously bounce again, and his finger taps away as well. This time, however, his eyes refused to leave yours.Â
Fiveâs adams apple bobs as he swallows harshly. He takes a deep breath as he runs a hand through his thick, dark brown hair. âI-I keep having nightmares about the apocalypse, b-but last night was the worst yet,â Five mumbles, his voice soft and low.Â
âWhat happened?â You ask.Â
âI-I, It hurts to think, nonetheless, to actually say,â Five pauses, taking a deep breath again before continuing. âI-I lost you. It was so lonely, so cold. It felt like the first time, but a million times worse, because you, well, you were fucking gone. I couldnât save you.â Five stares back down to his coffee.Â
You bring a hand up to the back of his neck, massaging the area lightly. âThe apocalypse isnât happening anymore, Five. We stopped that. And Iâm not going anywhere,â You say reassuringly, bringing your hand up to play with his hair.Â
Five hums softly. A wave of calm washes over the room. You continue to comb through Fiveâs hair with your fingers. You and Five had shared small moments like these in the past, but nothing ever truly confirmed anything between you two. You longed for some sort of spark to be ignited, but nothing ever seemed to happen.
Finally, Five speaks up. âIâm not good enough for you.â His ocean eyes meet yours again. Youâre at a loss for words. âYou sit here, comforting me, and yet I know damn well that I donât deserve this, or you.â
âWhere is this coming from?â You ask firmly, removing your hand from Fiveâs hair.Â
âIâve been trying to find a way to say it, Iâve been meaning to tell you how I really feel,â Five says, now trying his best to avoid eye contact. âBut Iâm clearly absolute shit at this sort of thingâŠand you deserve better than someone who canât say how they feel, or save you from an apocalypse, even if it is just a dream.âÂ
You shake your head. âYouâre being absolutely ridiculous,â You canât help but giggle. For months, you longed for Five to be honest with you. You wanted to know how he felt, and more specifically, if he felt the same as you did.
âIâm not, though, (Y/N),â Fiveâs eyes find yours again. His right hand hesitantly extends out towards yours, Five now holding your hand in his. âYou deserve someone who wonât lash out at you, someone who will treat you right. For Godâs sake you deserve someone who knows how to be in a relationship with a real human being and not a fucking mannequin!â
You canât help but laugh. He wasnât wrong. In his 58 years on earth, the only âwoman,â he was ever with was Dolores, a department store mannequin.Â
Five grins a bit. âGod I love that laugh,â He mumbles under his breath as to not let you hear him; but you hear him anyway, your heart fluttering in your chest in response.Â
âWhat if I donât want anyone else? Did you ever think of that? What if youâre all I can think about? Even in my dreams?â You ask, nervously tucking a piece of hair behind your ear. âI have nightmares too, you know that. But what you donât know is that I canât save you in my nightmares eitherâŠâ You trail off. You had told Five about your nightmares before, but never that he was usually at the center of them.Â
âI-Iâm in your nightmares?â Five asks, his thumb now brushing softly against your hand. âW-what happens in them?â
âI donât like th-thinking a-about it,â You stutter, shutting your eyes tightly at even the smallest thought of your nightmares. Silence greets the room once again, just like an old friend. You finally decide to speak up. âYouâve been through so much, Five, but that doesnât mean that you donât deserve love. That doesnât mean you donât deserve me.â You stare deeply into Fiveâs glossy eyes, looking for some sort of answer. Youâre disappointed when you find absolutely nothing.Â
Five sniffles a bit, most likely thinking about what to say next. âYou just, well, you-, goddammit,â Five mutters, closing his eyes, struggling to find the right words. âYou mean so much to me. Iâm worried Iâll lose you like I lost everyone when I was younger. Iâm afraid that if something happens, I wonât be able to save you.âÂ
You smile, shaking your head. âI have powers too, youâre not that fucking special,â You say jokingly, giggling a bit.Â
âWoah, thanks,â Five says sarcastically, smirking a bit. âYouâre special, though. You know that?â Five says matter-of-factly, looking straight ahead, trying his very best to be as casual as possible.Â
Heat rushes to your cheeks, and your heart flutters in your chest. âFive?â You call out, staring in his direction, waiting for him to turn and face you.Â
âYes, (Y/N)?â Five responds, his eyes finding yours yet again.Â
âI think I might be in love with you.âÂ
Five doesnât break eye contact. His bright blue eyes widen a bit.Â
âWell thank god, I thought I was going to have to say it first,â Five smiles.Â
Before you can say anything else, Fiveâs lips are on yours. The kiss is soft, yet longing, as if two people had traveled across the universe, across space, across multiple timelines just to be with each other, and finally, somehow, they actually made it to each other.Â
The minute Five pulls his lips from yours, that longing sensation fills your gut yet again.Â
But youâd travel across the universe a million more times just to have him kiss you again.Â
âNothingâs gonna change now, right? Things can stay this perfect forever?â Five questions, his face inches from yours, He smiles widely, and his voice is low and peaceful for once.Â
âYes,â You say softly. âNothingâs gonna change our world. No nightmares, no apocalypses for nowâŠNothing.â
âGood,â Five whispers, leaning in slowly again. âI like that.â
âSounds of laughter, shades of life
Are ringing through my opened ears
Inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love
Which shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on across the universe
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my worldâ

Summary: Fiveâs brothers try to set him up with the beautiful server in Griddyâs Donuts
âCome on, weâre seventeen now, you canât tell me youâve never even had a crush on anyone,â Klaus exclaims, flinging his feet onto the table.
âHeâs right, Five,â Luther agrees, âIt does sound kind of odd.â
âMaybe Iâm aromantic,â Five suggests calmly, poking the glaze of his untouched donut.
âYeah, maybe you are, but⊠I donât think so,â Diego agrees with his brothers.
âI mean, Luther obviously has a crush on Allison,â Ben continued the discussion, brushing Klausâ feet off the table. âDiego totally has a thing for that girl scout, who always sells the cookies down the street from the academy,â Diego protested under his breath, but kept quiet otherwise, âKlaus has made out with three different people, and that was last month alone,â
âDoes that count though,â Five jumped in.
âIt does have a romantic component,â Klaus defended, âthe acceptation that something like true love doesnât exist, and still chasing the fleeting feeling of sharing the breath of another-â
âAnd even Iâve gotten my heart broken,â Ben continued as if he had not been interrupted at all.
Five sighed, knowing that his brothers, once again, were unstoppable in their mission of getting him into trouble.
His eyes wandered over to the young person who was standing behind the counter of the donut shop. They were hardly older than him, if at all, and wore the pink apron with the logo of the shop.
It was Tuesday night, and the brothers had stolen away softly, after Mom had checked on them for the night. It was not the first time they had done that, and most of the times their sisters were with them as well, but Vanya had insisted she wanted to play some violin, and Allison had an audition tomorrow morning, so she had declined the boysâ offer to join them. Now the five of them were sitting in a booth at their favorite donut shop. It was sparely visited at this time of day, or rather night, and the young person who was currently working to clean the coffee machine, was the only employee of the evening.
âSooo, what is your type,â Luther asked, reminding Five not to stare at the person across the room.
âWhat?â
âYour type, what do you like about girls,â Luther continued.
âOr boys,â Klaus added.
âOr boys, yes,â Luther corrected himself.
âI- I donât have a type,â Five answered, looking bewildered at his brothers.
âCome on,â Diego groaned, âWhat do you think is attractive? Long hair, short hair, dark hair, light hair, brown eyes, green eyes, blue eyes, curls, bangs-â
âI can describe a person very well on my own, thank you,â Five hissed, resisting the urge to look across the room again.
âSo?â Ben leant forward, as if he expected Five to share a secret with them.
âI donât have a type,â Five shrugged, leaning back, finally taking a bite out of his donut, and chewing contently on the sugary treat.
âCan I get you guys anything else?â
Your sweet voice made Fiveâs head shoot around, before he realized that this might give away his little crush on you, which he did his best to conceal in front of his brothers. But he felt like he was doing a terrible job.
âCan I have one more of the chocolate donuts,â Ben asked, and you nodded while collecting the empty plates.
âAnd Iâll take the trippy-est donut you have,â Klaus added, making everyone at the table roll their eyes.
âSure, any preference?â
âSurprise me, darling,â Klaus winked, making Five clench his fist under the table.
âOf course, sweetheart,â you answered, making the last word drip with venom, so that the boysâ eyes widened with surprise, but Five felt a sense of pride flood through his veins as he glanced at Klausâ sour expression due to his failed flirting attempt, glad that you were standing up for yourself.
âCoffe for me, black,â Five ordered, finally making you look at him.
Your eyes were shining mysteriously in the cold neon lights of the shop, and you were tired; Five could tell, but he did not mention it.
âItâs pretty late already, you shouldnât drink coffee this late,â you told him, looking down on the sitting teenager.
Five held your stare challengingly, as if he expected to change your words by looking at your wonderful eyes, but you did not blink and did not turn away, so he dropped his gaze again.
âA strawberry milkshake then,â he gave in, much to the surprise of his siblings.
âGreat, anything else?â
When none of the boys spoke up, you skipped away, back behind the counter to prepare the order.
âWell maybe we should try the server for Five, you know, as a little exercise,â Diego suggested, wiggling his eyebrows at Five.
âForget it,â he hissed.
âNo, I think Diego has a good point,â Luther agreed.
âYou like âem, ey,â Ben asked grinning, kicking Fiveâs leg under the table, âNo wonder, theyâre real pretty,â
âI donât,â Five defended, a little too quickly maybe.
âWhatever, here they come,â Klaus giggled, and nodded into your direction, as you were approaching the table again, balancing two plates with the donuts, and Fiveâs milkshake.
âWe only had heart-sprinkles left, sorry,â you apologized as you placed down the pink drink in front of the time and space travelling superhero.
âItâs fine,â Five shrugged, hoping, praying, his brothers would have the decency not to try anything.
âOne chocolate donut,â you continued setting out the plates for Ben and Klaus, Klaus receiving a donut with bright purple icing and a mix of neon colored sprinkles on top, âand the trippy-est one I could find. Enjoy.â
You had just turned your back to them, when Diego spoke up, making Five wanting to punch him immediately.
âHey, we were wondering- you know our brother here is a little on the shy side,â he wrapped his arm around Fiveâs shoulders as you turned back, âand you know, he quiet seems to like you,â Five tried to shake off the arm around his shoulder, but Diego had taken a hold on his shirt, âso we thought maybe you would like to get to know him a little better?â
Five felt the heat rise into his cheeks but it was more of anger than embarrassment. His brothers truly were idiots.
âHeâs a really nice guy you know,â Luther added, making you raise your eyebrows.
âA little headstrong sometimes,â Klaus explained.
âBut all in all really sweet,â Ben finished.
The four brothers were looking up at you expectantly, while Five still stared at the floor in annoyance.
âIâm- Actually⊠Iâm flattered, but actually Iâm already in a relationship, sorry,â you answered, your voice sounding ever so sweetly in Fiveâs ears.
âOh,â came the collective disappointment from his brothers, while you turned your back again and walked to the counter to check up on a truck driver who had just finished a cup of coffee.
Not long after, the Hargreeves boys payed and made their way homewards.
âIâm gonna go home,â Five declared, still too annoyed with his brothers to suffer through their company all the way home. âSee you later.â
They did not try to stop him, knowing that he was mad at them for embarrassing him in front of you, so they just watched as he disappeared with a blue flash of light.
Behind the diner you were sitting on the old car seats, breathing in the fresh air after having had to smell the sugar of the donuts the whole evening. Suddenly there was a blue lightning right next to you, and out of nowhere Five appeared at your side, leaning back into the soft fabric of the seats.
âSorry for my brothers,â he groaned, rubbing his face in annoyance.
You giggled quietly.
âImagine the trouble I could have gotten you into if I had agreed to âget to know youââ, you laughed, drawing quotation marks into the air.
âI wouldâve killed you,â Five glared at you.
âYou could have tried,â you winked at him, which made his heart beat ten thousand times faster.
âWhat was that with the coffee, by the way,â he inquired, taking the donut you were holding out of your hand and took a bite, before handing it back to you.
âIâm concerned for your well-being,â you explained, giggling at his stone cold expression, taking a big bite of the donut yourself.
âYeah, right,â he murmured, leaning his head to the side and resting his forehead against the side of your shoulder.
âAll the caffeine isnât good for your body,â you insisted, making him roll his eyes.
âAll the heart racing every time I see you isnât good for my body either, yet here I am,â he replied, deeply inhaling the scent that streamed off your clothes.
âOne addiction in your life is enough,â you answered, shrugging lightly.
âIs it? Â And what is yours,â Five questioned, lifting his head and looking at you.
âYou,â you smirked, making Fiveâs heart jump.
âFair enough,â Five agreed and leant forward, pressing a kiss to your lips, quickly and sweetly, âshould I get you home?â
âYou are an angel,â you sighed, relieved that you did not have to walk.
âAsk my family, they probably have a different opinion on that matter.â
Both of you got up and Five took your hands in his, creating blue lightning before both of you materialized in front of your parentsâ house.
âYou know, I was thinking,â you spoke, âNext time your siblings and you are in the shop, we should just be ourselves.â
You turned around to the door, and unlocked it.
âWhat do you mean?â
âHold hands, kiss, what we always do,â you explained, turning around to your boyfriend.
âShow them that weâre together,â Five asked, raising his eyebrows, trying to imagine the scenario.
âExactly, weâre seventeen, weâre old enough to be in a relationshipâ you grinned, âcan you imagine their faces?â
You leant forward and gently placed your lips on Fiveâs. He immediately melted into the kiss, like he always did. His hands wrapped around yours, holding onto you. When he pulled away, he narrowed his eyes, trying to picture his siblingsâ reaction if they were to witness a moment like this between Five and you.
âNo, I really canât imagine their faces.â
