I Love My Job(s)/How Lucky Can You Get?
The craziest week (or two! - who even remembers!) EVER.
I'm workin' as a theater actress, rehearsing/performing not one - not two - but FOUR, count 'em, FOUR shows. These are:
How Lion and Mouse Became Friends - a musical in which I'm playing the lead role of Mouse, getting to belt and pretend to be a rodent (ie what I do every single day)
My Sky is Falling - an INCREDIBLE project that uses a science fiction dystopian future as an allegory for the current foster care system as dictated by the story of an amazing woman's journey. It will be presented at the U.N. Envision Conference and is a Sleep-No-More-style interactive experience using new technology developed by MIT to measure audience involvement. I play Dr. F, leader of the Donna1313s, and designer of the computer simulation that starts the whole thing.
Fitzwilliam Loves Lizzy - the play I wrote that's being produced at the Manhattan Repertory Theater at the end of this month (COME SEE IT if you're in New York!) in which I'm also playing Elizabeth Bennet.
Mafia Mayhem - the newest Laugh With You murder mystery that I've already performed in Connecticut and New Jersey where I not only get to do my regular improv/acting/comedy/whatever stuff, but because I'm playing Sweet Selena Fairvoice, a sleazy lounge singer, I do in fact also get to SING!
Not to mention I shot my first television show, playing Sarah Sutherland in "Mysteries at the Museum" and getting a few awesome dresses and a really awesome wig and shot the lead in a few short films - "Dirty Rotten Bastards" as Julianna, already wrapped, and getting ready to play Katie in "About The Girl."
My poor writing has been pushed aside like a baby bird out of the nest and it makes me very uncomfortable to have spent so little time at my computer telling stories in my first language (prose) this month. But I've been doing what I LOVE - telling stories in other forms - all across the tri-state area, I've been in CT twice, NJ three times, and NY the rest of the time, so I really do have a pretty valid excuse for being as busy and neglectful as I have been. The only problem is I'm still not used to writing for anyone other than me . . . and the producer of Figment: A Ghost Story (my musical being done this summer) probably doesn't care that I've been touring the tri-state area with a murder mystery and is probably more concerned as to why I still haven't made these script revisions. Aaaaand of course I'm dealing with this by posting about how happy I am about my accomplishments on tumblr rather than, you know, actually making the script revisions like I'm supposed to.
Maybe I should go do that.
Anyway! I'm feeling so extremely blessed and happy at the moment and I wanted to thank all of you who I know IRL (and those who I don't but who have taken the time to be supportive of me via the internet) for being so wonderful and lovely. Hope you are having an absolutely wonderful day! <3
