Hi! I really like your blog! I was wondering if you have any tips for a beginner? I'm just starting to eat better and work out. I'm a bit confused because my Fitbit tells me that I should only be eating around 1000 calories because my output is only 1600? I know I should be eating more but idk what to do?!
Hi!
Thank you so much! You’re very sweet!
On your calories, unless you are very small/light/short and sedentary, that seems like a quite low number of calories.
Please take a look at this page on @fitchris25 ‘s blog and calculate your BMR and TDEE to check what the fitbit is saying. All of these are only estimates, including fitbit, so also keep that in mind. You never want to go below your BMR for intake. You will ruin your metabolism and your body will go into starvation mode. When that happens, the first thing your body will burn for fuel is MUSCLE, not fat. It will do all it can to protect your fat stores and get rid of muscle, which is a calorie burner, to keep you from starving to death.
Anyway, check out those calculations and, if they don’t match fitbit, see if you have something set wrong on your fitbit, like your weight or height or something like that, which could throw it off.
Then, check out Chris’ Beginner’s Guide HERE for more helpful information.
I’m not one for reinventing the wheel, and since Chris has already got it all done, I say we use it, right? :)
Good luck to you!! After going through that, if you have any specific questions that I can help with, let me know. {hugs}
