like chip is soo “straight” and imagine his dilemma and trying to avoid the idea that he’s in love with gillion. and then gillion is either stupidly oblivious or is convinced he already confessed (with The Kiss) and they are just dating now according to human customs.

Oooooo okay this is immediately an interesting one in my opinion tho. I mean I love them and their dynamic I did a whole thing about them in my "shipping in Jrwi post" so it'd be really funny if I don't actually fuck with them.

I do tho, especially on like a meta and storytelling level there is something compelling in "the chosen one and the cursed one" "the guy destined to be great and the guy destined to be nothing at all" like just symbolically that's very appealing to me. I go crazy for that shit.

Also something about gillion learning to hate humans but then finding love in humanity and a human is also like damn.

Then also in canon, I mean I feel like I'm preaching to the choir here, but all their moments in the campaign and their development as friends n stuff is crazy. Like chip going from not caring about his customs and wanting to sacrifice him to nearly having a breakdown when he disappears and always wanting to sacrifice himself for him??? Gillion being ready to kill him for being a bad person turning into gillion protecting him with everything he has even after he becomes the thing he hates???? Insane. Wild. Crazy.

Urbana 25.

I honestly don’t even know where to start. London. It’s like a dream. I suppose my first thought is the red bus driving down the street, moving along the opposite side of the road from what we’re used to, and passing by the iconic Big Ben. I remember writing in a scholarship essay that I wanted to travel to England to see all the places I had read and taught about–Shakespeare’s Globe, Canterbury Cathedral, etc. These are the obvious images one has when they think of London. It is a place of history, literature, and culture. And it continues to be a city visitors of the world seek out.

As far as expectations go, I’m not sure I’ve even thought about that before now. I’m a bit apprehensive about traveling and about going somewhere new, but truthfully, I’m apprehensive about traveling in downtown Raleigh sometimes. Anything different scares me. I’m sure the people will be similar to the people here, aside from different accents and of course different views on politics and local events. When I think of people from England, I think of tea, and sometimes I think of fish and chips, as well as peas. I do love peas, so this resonates with me for some reason. I also love to watch Gordon Ramsey, so perhaps he has taken over images in my mind. I know very little about the entertainment, other than the television shows I’ve watched like Dr. Who, The Great British Bake Off, and maybe another here and there with a title I can’t remember. And weather-wise, I’ve been advised to pack a raincoat. But honestly, I can’t say that I’ve ever spent a lot of time thinking about the weather in London. If anything, I’ve spent more time teaching my students about the atmosphere of Whitechapel during the times of Jack the Ripper. I almost feel like I need to look at Google Earth and watch some recent videos, to see some more primary resources of current London.

I’m definitely looking forward to our trip, so that I can eliminate my apprehension about traveling, both to London and in general, and so that I can finally make some of my dreams come true, as sappy as that may sound.
