Wayward Children//Aliudem
A/N: This was from my old tumblr that I no longer use, I have not stolen it. Also, I have revised it slightly and added in new details.
The World of Aliudem, for the Lost who have been Found
a rough making of a door, just barely on the water’s surface, framed with seaweed. sometimes it was swimming pools or lakes or rivers or even a bathtub but the seaweed was always there. it looked an awful lot like a grave.
not quite a drowned world but not a fairyland nor a goblin market, not an afterlife nor a netherworld. like it’s people, it doesn’t quite fit anywhere.
not quite nonsense but of little logic, filled with reason and a bit of rhyme. a world for the rule benders, those fond of loopholes.
there should be a governing system of sorts, yes, but there isn’t one that we see. still, there are consequences for actions. you can’t get away with just everything. to those who don’t obey, the world can push you out again, through your door and lock it behind you. even the natives, they can get thrown into a place as dry as bones.
in many ways, it is cruel but it is kind. it gives chances, in it’s own way.
somewhere where love is love, where people are quite safe but no world can be quite that perfect.
an underwater world, cool and smooth. one with sharks, turtles, whales, a variety of marine life, where people tie colored seaweed around their wrists, weaving it into their hair.
they don’t quite walk, don’t quite swim. a gentle kick can take one fairly far and one can also latch on to sharks, whales, dolphins, anything large enough that isn’t hostile for boost.
a world for those who don’t quite fit, who are lost, who need to get out of where they are. those from lands that are filled only by deserts, with drought, with not enough water. a world for those who need the water.
a world for those who enjoy the quiet but can’t keep still all the time. those content with peace and the water. those who find themselves holding their breath when everything becomes too much for them to bear, those who spend their days in aquariums or by the ocean, the lakes, the nearest large body of water they can find.
a world for those who will sink to the bottom to the pool and hold their breath until a vigilant adult panics and pulls them out, those who are content playing in the water, those who switch on the taps and let the cool, smooth water dance in their fingers.
a world for the boy from a word of candy and sweets, whose father made a living by fishing from the sticky sea of pink lemonade who dreamed of crystal clear water that he could swim through, that he could wrap around himself and be able to see things through it. a boy who dreamed of something not sweet or made of candy, a world with some kind of logic behind it.
a world for an adopted child of the wolves from the moors, who dreamed of the great blue, who held their breath as they ran with the pack, who did not wish to live with the drowned gods instead but rather somewhere with actual living things. a child who made faces at the red of the moon, the darkness that cloaked the whole world, who dreamed of a world where they could be themself.
a world for a little girl with orange eyes and silver feathers growing from the nape of her neck, who muttered about having to return to a completely logical place to repay her debt so she could completely leave all traces of that world behind. a girl who didn’t want to be a creature of the air, who had to live strictly by the rules, who detested the fact that without oxygen for prolonged periods of time, one would drop dead in an instant. a girl who spent hours in the creek, catching fish to sell but only because she had to do that to survive. who dreamed of being able to be one with the fish, to be almost equal to them, to be in a world that respected them and didn’t turn little kids into birds.
a world for broken people of quiet beauty, who feel trapped and stuck, who need somewhere safe. a world for people who are lost, who will only find themselves at home in this strange word that doesn’t quite fit anywhere.
people who are sure:
welcome to Aliudem, welcome home

I've developed a fleeting interest in bird identification but my background in fish-knowledge creates some interesting problems. for example I just tried to determine whether a gray-blue tanager lived in saltwater or freshwater based on its shape
Yall ever get the painful urge to draw fish
mARTch day 8-contrasting colors
Fish!!! The outline is just pencil but the light made it look silver which is pretty cool
