In the battle of smart collars, does Halo Collar 5 or Fi Series 3 offer the superior GPS solution for your dog?
When I started comparing smart collars, I was really focused on which one would give me the most reliable GPS experience in real life not just on paper. At first glance, both Halo Collar 5 and Fi Series 3 seemed impressive, but once I dug deeper, I realized they’re built with very different priorities in mind. That difference really showed once I started thinking about how I actually use a collar day to day.
Fi Series 3 felt more like a traditional tracker. It’s great for getting alerts if your dog leaves a safe zone, and I appreciated the long battery life and activity tracking. But the GPS updates are designed to conserve power, so sometimes it felt like I was seeing where my dog had been a few moments ago rather than where she was in real time. For basic tracking and peace of mind if a dog goes missing, it definitely does the job.
