The first Indy Mogul podcast, “First Films”  

Hey cartoon filmmakers, have we got a podcast for you! 

Justin Johnson was my first creative colleague at Next New Networks and created Indy Mogul with his pal Erik Beck in mind, who in turn created the wildly successful Backyard FX. 

Justin’s just launched the first IM podcast called “First Films” which features filmmakers big and small talking about their rise to the top. Of course, the first guest is the afore mentioned Mr. Beck. Both the episodes posted so far are dynamite. Subscribe now!

Stanley Kubrick’s first film Day of the Fight

Today marks what would have been Stanley Kubrick’s birthday. He was born in NY, NY on July 26, 1928. I could easily go on and on about his filmography and how 2001, Clockwork Orange, The Killing, Lolita, Dr. Strangelove, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket and Eyes Wide Shut are among my all-time favorites. But instead, I thought I’d shine a light on one of his lesser known films.

1951′s short documentary Day of the Fight marked Kubrick’s directorial debut. Kubrick was also the producer, cinematographer, editor, and sound editor. He can even be seen as the man at the ringside with the camera.
