First Beach La Push, Washington. Looking south from out in front of our cabin at Quileute Resort. This was a great spot to stay on our vacation, the sunsets were amazing.
La Push, Washington
La Push is a beautiful village located at the mouth of the Quillayute River on the west coast of the Olympic Peninsula. It's 151-miles from Seattle which is a nearly 4-hour drive. On the southern side of the Quillayute river (where the village itself is located) is First Beach while Rialto Beach is located on the northern side of the river.
With a population of 371 people as of 2000, La Push is the largest community within the Quileute Indian Reservation and home to the Quileute Tribe. Due to the effects of climate change, the community has been forced to move from the coast to higher ground in order to reduce potential damage brought on by tsunamis and flooding. More information can be found here.
