“ I’m fine. I – I just – ” There is a valiant effort to sit on her own. This courageous behavior is rewarded with pain; sharp enough to make her wince and it lingers, forcing her down.
She’s a stubborn thing, though. They tell her to relax and she does – lies back, tries to ignore the discomfort, and slow racing thoughts – but even then, fingers ghost over her side to release a touch of healing. ( Magic of her own because she trusts it. )
It leaves her light-headed. The magic fades, unable to complete its task.
“ What happened ? ”
