Disasters such as these were not uncommon in the world, especially in big cities like this one. Though, this was definitely the first one that Mia had experienced, and survived. Things were only now starting to settle down, the morning after. People were cleaning up the rubble and searching for lost, missing loved ones as well as trying to find the cause of such a horrific event. Who could have done this? And why?
Vanessa Oliviera did not have many friends, that much was true. She was driven and did whatever it took to do what was right, no matter the stakes. Mia had experienced that first hand. She knew that they werenât the closest, and Vanessaâs disdain for her had been quite public for many years, but now? Things had only just been beginning to change, and now Mia wasnât sure if this woman was going to make it to tomorrow.
ââI know Iâm the last person you probably want to see right now.â Eddie was not only Aspenâs friend, but Vanessaâs as well-- two people who were very much NOT her fans. Mia couldnât imagine Eddie, by proxy, was much of one either.
âBut I need to know-- is she going to make it? The last I saw she was--â The images of Vanessa were still fresh in her mind. Mia wasnât sure they would ever stop haunting her.. and maybe they shouldnât. Maybe Mia deserved this.
âWhatever it costs-- Iâll cover it. That doesnât matter. Is she alright? Please. I need to know.â
