“Shame I can’t jump into the fray.”

“If you wish to challenge him, you need not do anything more than go up to him at a time he is not presently occupied and state your intent. He is not the sort to let an opportunity pass him by... to the point I take that back, and say you could probably challenge him even when he’s already occupied with something else. It’s all childish tomfoolery, of course. Petty challenges of violence.” As if she herself hadn’t accepted one of his challenges, only she had faced off Rider in a battle for balloon count instead.

This city was vast, there was much to explore-- she wanted to learn about every nook and cranny possible, so as to better understand the place she had been summoned to. If she could not do so, then how could she be expected to conquer it under her heel? How could she not be expected to rule a place if she did not know of its inhabitants? No queen in her right mind could call herself as such if she did not meet her own expectations.

It was only logical, after all.

On such a venture throughout Spirale, Medb took to immersing herself within the city’s crowds, only to observe the people within. In doing so, however, she did not expect to find a familiar face. Upon seeing him, her smile curled upward in a thin, cruel line and her eyes narrowed in a similar manner. 

Medb was typically one for much grander entrances, but being direct was likely to be more fruitful, so that’s what she decided upon. Once she had made up her mind, there was little stopping her; the Servant she was now singling out would know that, of course.

“What a surprise; I was wondering if there were other Servants within this city-- and to think, I found you here. It must be fate, wouldn’t you agree?”

Any face from Chaldea brought her comfort. His was for unique reasonings. The Caster’s presence resurrected from the past just how simple things had once been; the point of beginning which kept Mashu grounded with how grandiose foes of Singularities later would develop into. A reminder, that no matter where they began, or the incredible demand of those woefully under-powered, it was still possible. A smile brought upon her lips shone in his direction. His face curtained by the hood gave her strength to stay on her feet, even as her confidence waned, and longed for such simplistic times.

Pop. Pop. Pop.

Rider had long since found her rhythm for this, demolishing white balloons anywhere she went. It was nothing more complicated than target practice, albeit target practice while having to watch her back that nobody attempted to sneak up to steal her points count. 

Pop. Pop. Pop.

Really, it was almost disappointing the lack of a challenge. So long as she kept to the more isolated areas, the thrill was starting to fade. And anywhere more populated, well, there were others visibly stronger than her here. 

Pop. Pop. ..... Pop? That wasn’t one of her attacks, and she whirled around to face the culprit.

“Ah, hell.”
