im glad to hear you ship reylo as well but im pretty curious as to what your views on jon potentially bending the knee to dang are? i know some jonerys shippers are pretty split on the idea but i personally think its a bad look for jon. i know its logical but i think it would make me pretty sick honestly. i was glad to see him hold his ground though as i was mostly going into this episode worried that jon's character would be treated poorly in favor of just getting them to bang.
I know there are tons of people that donāt want Jon to concede to Daenerys and I definitely donāt want it to happen so easily either, but I canāt see how it would ruin or make Jon out of character if he does.
I love Jon, I really do. Heās my favourite character, but what heās expecting out of Daenerys is completely unreasonable and onesided, and Tyrion pointed that out to Jon as well. He came to Dany and presented her with absolutely nothing but wanted her resources, her army, and her dragons for nothing in returnā not even his allegiance. He wants an alliance but so far all heās done is take without giving anything back. We as an audience KNOW what heās doing is more important and will save the world, but Danyās team isnāt aware of the threat. Until Jon gets Dany to believe him, I think him taking from her while giving nothing in return is a far more worse look for him than conceding and calling her his queen.
Itās funny, and once again it was Tyrion that pointed it out, but despite how much Jon says that politics and the wars among people donāt matter, he refused to just bend the knee. Iām not saying that he should have, just that if he really didnāt care about this kind of stuff he wouldnāt be so stubborn about it. When he talked about everyone acting like children he included himself as well which means he admits to behaving just as āchildishlyā when it comes to stubbornness and arguing.
I donāt know if any of this is answering your question, Iām kind of just rambling at this point hahah I hope I made sense.
I think whether or not Jon pledges to Dany comes down to something far more simple than people realize.
Tyrion: If it doesnāt matter then you might as well kneel. Swear your allegiance to Queen Daenerys, help her to defeat my sister and together our armies will protect the North.
Jon: Thereās no time for that. Thereās no time for any of this. While we stand here debatingā
Tyrion: It takes no time to bend the knee. Pledge your sword to her cause.
Jon: And why would I do that? [looks to Daenerys] I mean no offence Your Grace, but I donāt know you. As far as I can tell your claim to the throne rests entirely on your fatherās name and my own father fought to ovethrow the Mad King. The Lords of the North place their trust in me to lead them and I will continue to do so as well as I can.
Jon gave his reasons for not bending the knee right here and it all comes down to him just notĀ knowing Daenerys and wanting to make the best decisions for his people. I completely feel Jon here. If he bent the knee right then and there, he would not have a welcoming return when he would return back up north.
The first thing that came out of his mouth was that he didnāt know her. His reason for not bending the knee was that he didnāt know her and he didnāt want to make a mistake that would cost him the trust of his people. So what will happen over the next few episodes as Jon and Dany get to spend time together, understand each other, and get to know each other? Jon will most likely reassess his situation.Ā
I think if Jon ever does concede to Dany it wonāt just be out of necessity, but because he genuinely trusts her. On the other end, Danyās views will change a bit as well. They just have to prove themselves to one another first.
On a final note, itās been very clear from the get-go that Jon and Dany are being treated as equals. I know people are scared that the power balance will tip one way or another, but I am confident that wonāt be the case from what weāve seen.
Iām not sure if I said everything I needed to say to explain my point, but I feel like this has gotten long enough :p
