Just because it’s full of spiders doesn’t mean it’s not a piñata. Either way, happy birthday.

Fire Fright
@johan-ia
When he spoke again, Johan started. What did he mean by that…? Then suddenly the world began to burn. Not the world, really. Just this strange and frightening boy before her. But her mind brought back the burning church of just a few nights ago, still raw in her soul. A shriek erupted from her throat as she stumbled back away from the fire, falling to the ground in her efforts. Burning. Why was everything always burning? “Stop! Please!” She screamed, throwing her arm over her eyes. Maybe if she couldn’t see the flames the memories would fade back to the deep part of her mind that they had only just started to recede to.
It was seared into her mind, though. Pheonixes were definitely real.
Kai had always gotten some rather mixed reactions from people whenever he showed off his powers. This was the first time anyone had seemed outright petrified, though. Because that’s certainly what this girl was.
The shriek made him jump out of his skin, arms flailing uselessly in panic as he saw her topple to the ground, and he completely evaporated any fire he had just conjured, looking just like a normal human again in moments.
“Hey, hey!! It’s gone, I’m sorry!” He said quickly, scurrying forward to crouch at her side, eyes wide and almost just as frightened now. “I’m sorry, I’m really sorry! I didn’t mean to scare you!” He hesitantly reached forward to grab her should, wanting to prove he really wasn’t fiery or harmful anymore.
