❤️— Shirahoshi was uncomfortable. The ground under her was hard and unyielding, not at all like the plush surface of her bed back home, and her new form didn’t help her at all. Before, she could always fold her tail under her, resulting in an immediate cushion that could keep her comfortable on even the most iron surfaces. But now her tail was gone. Her new legs were stretched out in front of her, pale white and soft as silk, beautiful to all those who would look upon them. But Shirahoshi could only feel a confusing mix of emotion about them, making her bite her lip as she stared at them. She was a mermaid, born of the sea and of salty air, the fastest swimmer in the ocean. She was a princess, meant to be a role model to her people, but now she wasn’t even the same as her people. It left her feeling conflicted, although not resentful. Her mother had tried so hard to fight for equality among humans, and Shirahoshi’s closest interactions with humans had been nothing but joyful. But still, this was different.
Clasping her hands together, Shirahoshi held them to her chest, sending out a silent prayer to her mother for guidance, wherever she may be, and to her father and brothers, to find her quickly and take her home. Because although it was true she had always wanted to visit the surface, to see the things her mother had spoken about, Shirahoshi didn’t think this was it. She didn’t think she was near her home at all. She felt weak, but she needed to be strong.
❝ I musn’t feel despair! I must find out how to get home! Think, Shirahoshi! What would Luffy-sama do at a time like this? ❞
