I can’t bring myself to start The Same Backwards as Forwards because ik it will break me and I can’t even think about Grayson Hawthorne without crying because he’s really been thru it. But on that note isnt it sl weird how he always falls for a girl (Avery and Lyra) when they’re around 17, the age Emily died. And I feel like we really just forget about Emily. Ik as a reader she sucked and I hated to see her name on my page but she’s gone and it they’ve all moved on fully. Maybe I don’t understand grief well enough but I thought she’d come up more in the Brothers Hawthorne in their daily thoughts. Even just briefly. She wasn’t just this girl they dated, she knew them growing up, she was present for a good portion of their childhood, especially summers when TBH takes place. Anyways, not an Emily defender at all, just thinking about how she impacted them so much at the start and ig they’d healed enough to forget??
