“Non, no speeches,” Remy says. He caught her just as she is leaving her room, and now they stand in the doorway, Remy’s expression unnaturally serious and eyes searching.
“Just wanted t’say---I’m comin’ wit’ you,” he says. His tone leaves little room for argument, but he’s sure Ororo will do so, anyway. Still, he’s not budging on this. This mission was near-suicide (but then again, when aren’t they?), but obviously that just meant Ororo could not allow anyone else take her place. She is not the type to skirt responsibility---unlike the other guy in the hall.
“Talk all you want, déesse,” Remy shrugs as she gets that look in her eye. “I ain’t gonna convince you t’stay, so dat means I’m gonna go. I ain’t lettin’ you go out dere wit’out some backup. I mean, I could, but den I’d be a pretty shitty brother, and we don’ wan’ dat, yeah?”
