   tired  eyes  shifted  to  the  other  side  of  the  room  to  look  at  the  blonde,  lips  pursing  with  a  sigh.  ❝  given  how  the  last  twenty  four  hours  have  gone,  are  you  that  surprised?  ❞  talia’s  tone  is  almost  completely  out  of  anger,  but  not  at  margot.  she’s  still  trying  to  wrap  her  head  around  everything.  theo  now  a  vampire.  jack  wanting  to  kill  him.  taking  the  risk  of  bringing  him  to  the  fairmonts.  the  day  has  just  been  too  much.  sure,  she’s  tough.  however  when  it  involved  her  children?  they  were  her  weakness.  absolutely  nothing  could  stop  her  from  protecting  them,  even  from  jack.  ❝  i’m  sorry.  you’re  helping  me.  you  don’t  deserve  to  deal  with  my  anger.  ❞  talia  swallowed,  hand  lifting  to  wipe  her  face.

listen  or  fix  it  ?  the  young  scott  wanted  it  to  be  both.  he  was  scared,  confused  and  yet  also  hurt.  his  dad  was  hurting  but  he  was  also  filled  with  an  anger  that  jamie  had  never  seen  before.  ❝  both  ?  ❞  he  spoke  softly,  legs  carrying  him  further  into  his  bedroom  before  climbing  onto  the  mattress.  ❝  is  daddy  mad  at  me  ?  ❞  a  tiny  frown  slipped  onto  jamie’s  face  as  he  gazed  up  at  haley.  ❝  i  just  wanted  to  show  him  what  i  colored ...  ❞

the  worst  part  by  far  about  nathan’s  current  condition  (  or  rather  his  attitude  about  it  ),   was  seeing  jamie  hurt  like  this.   confused,   not  knowing  where  he  stands  in  the  heart  of  his  own  father,   a  father  that’d  only  shown  him  love  and  devoted  affection  up  until  a  few  months  ago.   up  until  their  entire  lives  shattered  with  that  window  glass.   haley  was  doing  her  damned  best  to  overcompensate  for  his  emotional  absence,   but  she  couldn’t  help  but  feel  like  she  fell  shorter  and  shorter  with  each  day  that  passed   —   and  as  jamie  presented  her  with  a  question  she  didn’t  quite  have  a  right  answer  to,   that  night  was  no  exception  to  that  torturing  rule.   she  brings  her  hand  up  to  her  little  man’s  shoulder  and  squeezes  it  comfortingly  as  she  figured  out  what  words  to  say,   ❛   no,   baby,   he’s  not  mad  at  you,   he’s  just   —   kinda  mad  at  everything  right  now.   it  won’t  always  be  like  this,   though,   i  promise.  ❜    she  wanted  to  promise  he  wouldn’t  always  be  like  this,   that  he’d  get  his  daddy  back  in  no  time,   but  she  wouldn’t  make  a  promise  she  couldn’t  keep.   all  she  could  promise  was  she  wouldn’t  keep  him  around  nathan  forever  in  this  state,   not  unless  things  changed,   and  soon.  ❛   you  can  show  me  what  you  colored,   though.   y’know  me  and  aunt  peyton  love  being  the  prime  audience  to  your  finger-paint  art.  ❜

“You can blame a lot of things on the transition.” he said between respectful mouthfuls of scrambled eggs and sausage. “But I’m pretty sure your competitive side has always been there.” Drinking some orange juice, he contemplated it for a moment, before continuing. “’sides, It’s really just an enhancement. Think Elena 2.0. If you want to fast and the furious it, You plus some nitrous. All the components are there, but way more powerful.” He gave her a sympathetic smile. “It’ll get better.”  

EYES   SOFTENED   AT   THE   YOUNGER'S   WORDS.   it   was   a   feeling   he   knew   well   from   when   he   was   younger,   the   utter   doubt   that   he'd   ever   get   passed   it.   trauma   tended   to   do   that   to   a   person,   regardless   of   what   it   was.   ❛   this   is   going   to   sound   cheesy,   ❜   marcel   smiled   gently.   ❛   time   is   what   helps   it   get   better.   how   much   time?   who   knows.   ❜   his   muscled   shoulders   merely   shrugged.   there   was   still   some   things   that   he   himself   was   getting   through.   ❛   nobody   is   expecting   you   to   pretend,   hope.   you   have   feelings   and   emotions.   so   feel   them.   and   when   they   get   to   be   too   much,   you   come   and   talk   to   me.   you   aren't   alone   in   this,   alright?   ❜
