Firenewts, or salamen, are distant, evil relatives of lizard men, favor hot, sometimes sulphurous locales, breathe fire, are themselves resistant to it, and and have dark, mottled skin, smooth and eel-like, but dry. They form large bands or tribes protected by druidic priests and elite warriors and are seldom encountered in small numbers. Marauding hunting parties delight in mayhem and torture (by fire), and firenewts above ground are often (33%) encountered on giant striders. The lair of the firenewt, meanwhile, is host to numerous young and eggs in incubation.
