Punisher's Arsenal featuring the Steyr AUG by Eliot R. Brown from The Punisher War Journal No. 11, November 1989. Marvel.
The first movie the Steyr AUG is thought to have appeared in was Octopussy (1983). The first movie I can remember noticing it in was Die Hard (1988).
One of the more unusual users of a variant of this gun was the Falkland Islands Defence Force (FIDF) who adopted it in the late 80's/early '90's. At the time the FIDF were looking for a new rifle the obvious choice for them would have been the British SA80/L85. It was found to have a few 'issues' and it would take some time before these were addressed. The FIDF used the AUG up until 2019 but it has now been gradually replaced by the L85A2.

New York City:Â Protest Zionist racism and violence at the FIDF gala
Tuesday, March 14 - 5:30 to 7:30 pm
New York Hilton Midtown, 1335 Avenue of the Americas (6th Avenue between 53rd & 54th Sts), ManhattanÂ
Protest the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces annual gala, where fanatical Zionists gather alongside Israeli soldiers to raise tens of millions of dollars to support Israel's political imprisonment and other war crimes against occupied Palestinians.
Stand against Israel's internment of thousands of Palestinians, its military rule over millions, its continuous displacement of Palestinians and theft of their land, its siege of the Gaza Strip, and its ongoing exclusion of ethnically-cleansed refugees.
Support the Palestinian people, the Palestinian prisoners, the Palestinian Resistance, and the liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea.

Knollwood Country Club was set to host an FIDF Young Adult event.
Knollwood Country Club was set to host an FIDF Young Adult event.
A Friends of the IDF (FIDF) event quietly moved from a West Bloomfield Township country club to a nearby temple due to security concerns.Â
On the evening of Feb 15, Knollwood Country Club was set to host an FIDF Young Adult event.Â
In a statement to members the following morning, Knollwood President Mark Colton wrote:
âEarly last week, we started receiving chatter on our social media channels and calls to club management voicing objections to the event,â the statement read. âAt that time, we notified the West Bloomfield Police, the FIDF, and the private security company hired to secure the event. We provided the authorities with as much information as we could gather about each individual who contacted us. We were advised not to respond to these individuals.
âLate last week, the FIDF decided to quietly move the event to Temple Israel where there was a more robust security infrastructure to prevent protestors from shutting down the event,â the statement continued. âAgain, not wanting to draw any more attention to Knollwood, and never having publicized the event before the objections, we elected against making any mention of the event being moved on our social media channels or our website.â
While the chatter appeared to dissipate, Knollwood still arranged for the club to close early on the day of the event and for marked police vehicles to be on-site to deal with any issues.
It was around 6:30 pm that evening when a group of protestors arrived and blocked both the entrance and exit to Knollwood property, the statement said.Â
West Bloomfield Police quickly dealt with the protests and the crowd soon left once they realized it was an empty venue.
Unfortunately, a trespasser later returned to Knollwoodâs property and committed âminor but incendiary vandalismâ to Knollwoodâs property and West Bloomfield property adjacent to Knollwoodâs property.
âWhile minor to repair,â the statement said of the vandalism, â(It) has certainly caused a great deal of emotion in our membership and the community in general.â
This occurrence of vandalism is believed to be the extent of the harm to the property.Â
âWe have notified the police who will be accessing our security as well as public cameras to see if we can identify who committed this crime,â the statement read. âIn the meantime, I wanted to assure our membership that we will continue to review additional security measures to keep our staff, our members, and our property safe during these troubling times.â
Comment from FIDF was not available at time of publication.
