I’ve certainly been relying on some of my favorite emotional support fics so I thought I’d make a couple of posts to share some of my favorites and maybe introduce someone to a new fic, writer, or artist. I’m planning to make a few posts with a few fics and an artist in each. I’d love to hear if you love some of these too, but more importantly, leave some love for the authors and artists if you can! If you’re looking for a long, insanely well written, post-CATWS recovery fic, this is it. Heed the tags; this the bluntest, realest look at Bucky’s recovery I’ve read - lots of trauma, dissociation, issues with food and sleep, etc. Bucky is not in a good place for most of this fic but it is so, so good. Read the comments too  - feather has answered lots of questions that contribute to the verse there. If you enjoy it, read the short fic in (even if I could) make a deal with god next, which is linked in the epilogue. I’ve spent hours upon hours lost in this world; if you love it, let me know! 

4 Minute Window by @cesperanza. https://archiveofourown.org/works/3130037

Another one of my favorites. @cesperanza is an amazing writer. I don’t even know how to describe this one...just read it, it’s so good. Set post-Winter Soldier. Subscribe to the series and read annual Thanksgiving posts and Advent calendars! I would line my walls with the art from @artgroves for this verse. 😍 My other favorites from this author are Your Lack Of An Answer Is Kind Of An Answer: Four Questions Natasha Asked Steve Rogers, And One Time Bucky Barnes Answered and 20th Century Limited. 

2 totally different fics from @rohkeutta that we need in these times: From What Seemed Like A Ruin https://archiveofourown.org/works/12380787 is a sweet, beautiful recovery fic with falconry and gorgeous art from @artgroves. Side bitch out of your league https://archiveofourown.org/works/8615512 and the rest of this series is hilarious and sassy and the perfect antidote to *gestures vaguely at everything*. Bonus - you should probably read Moosebumps and the pocketful of mumbles series too.

This is maybe my favorite AU - it is so incredibly good. Heartbreaking, sweet, beautiful, and exquisitely written. Bucky is a veteran dealing with agoraphobia, depression, and PTSD. Steve is dealing with his own struggles which have led to his homelessness. This one is pretty long - over 100,000 words and 13 chapters. As always, check the tags!

A delicious political AU (NOT based on the miniseries with seb) where Steve and Bucky work on very opposite sides of the aisle but can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other. And then maybe some feelings get caught :) Over 100k with 12 chapters, with an adorable holiday sequel if you’re interested. Read the tags AND the notes… not everyone will want to read about politics right now, but some might find comfort in an intensely passionate Democratic Socialist Steve in these times.
