If Iâm an impatient person who hates waiting for AO3 invites, can I make my gift a post on its own and tag my giftee in it? Or does it strictly need to be AO3 through you guys?
posting it through ao3 is a MUST! this way, anonymity (at least until the Grand Reveal⢠on january 7th) will be kept and your giftee will receive it from a âsecretâ santa.Â
also, ao3 is pretty quick about invites, as far as i know. it really shouldnât take longer than a day or two (even if you sign up without receiving an invite code from us).Â

1. ao3 invites are not necessary to sign up, they just give you a pass through the waitlist that ao3 has. you can ask anyone with an ao3 account if they have any invites (accessible via clicking on the userâs icon at the top of the page, clicking âInvitationsâ in the top right corner, and then you need the recipientâs email). @viclouis just got 5 more from Archive of Our Own, but since they are limited we highly recommend jumping on that waitlist if she runs out.
2. for the companion piece, please please try to hit at least 1.5k!
is there a maximum for fic entries?
youâre only allowed to submit one ao3 fanfiction link (must be a single linkâbut it can be multi-chaptered or have multiple stories within the chapters. however, a series would not work for this even though it can be sent in as a single link).
this is because you will be initially posting as an anonymous author, so it be difficult to differentiate between authors and the fics theyâve written if there are multiple entries.
