Okay yes so this is literally like 2 months late and I am so so sorry but it took me a while to come up with a good plot for this oof! Anyway, I didn’t want to let you down bc you are one of my favourite mutuals so I went ahead and made it a little longer than planned lmao

While I usually like to write in a linear way, this part between Sansa and Jon at the end actually came to me really clearly and was something I wrote before a bunch of the middle of the chapter. Which ended up being good, because it motivated me to get through some of the less interesting actiony stuff and gave me a goal to write to.

Her fingers fisting in his sleeve is a small but important detail. One of the traps I think fandom (and fic writers) run into sometimes is simplifying the characters into archetypes. Sansa is thought of as the soft and girly one, while Arya the tomboy tough one. And while this is broadly true, there’s a lot of points in her captivity when Sansa actually has quite fierce and savage thoughts, like when in AGOT she almost pushes Joffrey off a wall and at another point hides a knife on her.

In the same way fandom sometimes flattens Sansa’s character that way, Jon in this fic starts in the same place. He hasn’t seen Sansa in at least a year and even before that she’s the sibling he understands the least, so I wanted to hint at the ways she’s different than he realizes, and also how her time in Kingslanding has already begun to change her.
