there's an interesting thing about fibonacci numbers, a life hack even.
it can be used to roughly convert miles to kilometres. take two consecutive fibonacci numbers, like 5 and 8. that's it! 5 miles is approx 8 km. so 2 miles is approx 3 km, and 3 miles is approx 5 km.
but how many kilometres are there in 100 miles? 100 can be shown as the sum of the fibonacci numbers 89 + 8 + 3. now the fibonacci number after 89 is 144, the number after 8 is 13, and the number after 3 is 5. that is, the answer is 144 + 13 + 5 = 162 km per 100 miles. the exact answer is 160.93 km. there is an error, but this method works with all numbers. and vice versa, too.
