PROFILE.
Driven and enthusiastic, [𝐺𝐴𝑅𝐷𝐸𝑁 𝑉𝐴𝑅𝐼𝐸𝑇𝑌]’s promising career with the Foundation has become rather turbulent in the last few months. Originally scouted by Ex-Head of Containment at Site-120, Dr. Adam Barclay, from the population of Nx-33, “Inverness-shire,” Scotland, [𝐺𝐴𝑅𝐷𝐸𝑁 𝑉𝐴𝑅𝐼𝐸𝑇𝑌] showed potential that was hard to dismiss. In the years after their recruitment, [𝐺𝐴𝑅𝐷𝐸𝑁 𝑉𝐴𝑅𝐼𝐸𝑇𝑌] quickly impressed senior staff members at Site-120 with their innovative containment procedures and patents. Although their research was unorthodox, these groundbreaking experiments reached them the position of a Lead Researcher at Site-120 — a standing significantly higher than their former mentor, Dr. Barclay. Perhaps this led Barclay into the arms of the Group of Interest known as The Hive. The exact series of events that lead to Barclay’s betrayal seven years ago are still unclear, as are his present whereabouts and intentions. While investigating the scandal, the Foundation demoted [𝐺𝐴𝑅𝐷𝐸𝑁 𝑉𝐴𝑅𝐼𝐸𝑇𝑌] to Assistant Researcher, but outside of that mentorship, the internal investigation did not uncover any direct link between [𝐺𝐴𝑅𝐷𝐸𝑁 𝑉𝐴𝑅𝐼𝐸𝑇𝑌] and the Hive. Since seven years ago, they have remained Assistant Researcher, the ties to Barclay's expulsion a lingering presence in their Foundation career. However, the Committee believes it may be time again for [𝐺𝐴𝑅𝐷𝐸𝑁 𝑉𝐴𝑅𝐼𝐸𝑇𝑌] to rise. Under the care of [𝑅𝐸𝑉𝐸𝑅𝑆𝐸 𝐸𝑁𝐺𝐼𝑁𝐸𝐸𝑅], it is our belief that Themis will be a great test to see where they stand with their talents. — Internal Memo from the Ethics Committee.
LAST ASSIGNMENT.
ASSISTANT RESEARCHER; Site-120. Assisting Head of Containment and Lead Containment Researchers, specializing in Containment Hardware. Notable event includes an internal review of possible connection to Group of Interest The Hive and a demotion to Assistant Researcher rank seven years ago. They have been passed over for promotions ever since.
INTERRELATIONS OF NOTE.
𝑂𝐿𝐷 𝑆𝑃𝑂𝑅𝑇. You've worked with the Iota-10 operative before, having conferred with him in maintaining the Veil before containment. His frank reputation precedes him, and you don't mind his demeanor. ...But you remember having a Perfect Record yourself, a mere gilding over the crisscross of the scars needed to get the work done. You're afraid to ask, but will he reach a breaking point like you did?
𝑉𝐸𝐿𝑉𝐸𝑇 𝐺𝐿𝑂𝑉𝐸. You'd like to think of yourself as a friendly person but this teammate drives you up the wall, and maybe the ceiling? Though they've saved your behind when you've been stuck in an unwanted social situation, their finesse and mannerisms come off practiced to you. It'd be nice to know if they were actually interested in your research or if they're letting you talk on for other reasons...
𝑄𝑈𝑂𝑇𝐸 𝑈𝑁𝑄𝑈𝑂𝑇𝐸. This new teammate stands just to the left of their words, in the same way an anomaly is just off from reality. They clearly know more than they say, and the puzzle is figuring out what they want and what they’ll do to get it. Without giving away too much information yourself, of course. The fact that there's a history of inconveniencing the Foundation is the cherry on top.
𝑈𝑅𝐵𝐴𝑁 𝑀𝑌𝑇𝐻. Finally, someone who is as enthusiastic about learning more about SCPs like you! While you two come from different fields and experiences, you're more than willing to share the berth of your knowledge with a kindred spirit. Hopefully their curiosity is limited to research and doesn't wander into your personal details.
