Okay @lazzuderp here it is. Short thing.

He was stunned by the sight - it looked… different, now that it was sitting there, freed from its prison. Glistening, catching the fading sunlight in such a mesmerising way that it never had before. “I did not expect this.” It was the only thing he could say, to the beautiful thing he held in his hand. 

He’d looked forward to it for so long - ever since the very first time. They’d caught his eye, the two of them; they were identical from afar, but upon close inspection, they were distinct from one another: one had more red in its colour, but the other had a prettier ring. 

He’d felt sorry for them, trapped in the ugly, messy prison. Abused, deprived of rest during the night. They’d grow pallid, dry, the white on them stained an ugly reddish colour, their potential radiance dulled by fatigue. 

He’d tried to free them multiple times in the past. Throughout his attempts, he’d experienced violent resistance, being cussed and sworn at, and even had the beauties held hostage. 

He held back. He waited. He needed to be patient, and wait for his chance… once he had them, they would never return to this life of imprisonment, where they were belittled. He would treat them well - he would put them on pedestals befitting of their beauty, where their magic would be preserved forever. 

This was it. This was his chance. This was their time. 

“Fuck you.” The words interrupted his thoughts, stopped him in his tracks of admiring the one he’d freed first - the one with more red. He clicked his tongue in annoyance, but the noise continued. “Fuck you and your fucking fetish–” 

“Shh…” He applied more pressure on the neck between his foot and the ground - it belonging to the one who held these beauties prisoner. “Be patient.” He carefully stripped off some of the muck clinging onto the wet eyeball in his hand, then turned to address the other one. “I’ll free you, too. Just give me a moment…” 

The prison was unguarded now - he had broken through, and it’s lying on the ground in a few pieces. It can’t fight back anymore. 

“Don’t worry, pretty one…” Holding onto the disembodied eyeball with one hand, he reached for the other - he wondered if the amber ring would look even brighter once it’s freed. “I’ll never leave you behind.” 

The noise started, and he silenced it by crushing the source under his foot. The prison struggled feebly, but that wasn’t enough to take away his satisfaction of finally getting what he wanted.
