II Lisbon’s Feminist Festival / May 2019
CALL FOR PROPOSALS APPLICATION DEADLINE: 03/02
Feminisms: The struggle in everyday life
Lisbon’s Feminist Festival's mission is to be inclusive, intersectional, intercultural, anti-fascist, anti-racist and anti-capitalist. It is a self-managed and non profit project proposed by a group of volunteers who claim feminisms in diverse experiences.
On this second edition, which will take place in May 2019, we would like to emphasize that feminisms are a living force present in different faces, ethnicities, classes and genders all over the world and it happens in different ways in the everyday struggle by women and non-binary people fighting for their rights to exist in the areas of security, housing, work, and many others. The oppression exerted by the Patriarchy is great and in the face of fascism’s expansion, it is fundamental to facilitate an intersectional space where feminisms express themselves in order to strengthen everyday life’s fight to exist. And this year our resistance will be even greater!!! The various struggles of everyday life will be present at the 2019 Lisbon’s Feminist Festival. Let's go together?
Build the Festival with us by sending activity proposals from workshops, debates, concerts to performances, theater, cinema, exhibitions and any form of expression which has feminisms and equality as inspiration. Make your application through this form: https://goo.gl/forms/h4e3yj55dj0B7YvA2. We hope that all the Festival’s participants will be able to identify with the Festival’s activities and find new ways and possibilities for intervention in a safe, open space. The goal is that this year's theme inspires you!
This call for proposals is an invitation opened to everyone - individuals, collectives, associations – to bring your ideas, concerns and join us in this revolution. We will continue to make feminisms a fight for all, working towards equal opportunities, diversity and self-determination. The deadline to submit your activity proposal is February 3rd, 2019.
OTHER INFORMATION: Lisbon’s Feminist Festival will take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the month of May. Activities duration can vary - from an exhibition which lasts throughout the month, a cinema cycle which occupies a weekend or a thirty minutes performance. We have not established any previous limitations regarding this. We will launch a crowdfunding campaign and organize fundraising events with which we intend to cover the minimum expenses for the implementation of the Festival activities. With this being said, it is essential for us to understand the costs associated with each proposed activity. We are also looking for suitable places to host these activities. Contact us if you own a place or know about other available places: [email protected].
Any activity which contains evidence of incitement to violence, misogyny, racism, homophobia or transphobia will be excluded. Please share this invitation and if you have any questions feel free to contact us. *Children welcome.
Criteria that we consider for the selection of activities to be carried out within the framework of Lisbon’s Feminist Festival: Lisbon’s Feminist Festival (FFLx) encourages proposals which will:
1. Encompass the various feminisms and include an intersectional perspective (race, class, age discrimination, functional diversity, etc.) as well as historical perspective, prioritizing the creation of alliances. 2. Be carried out by women, non-binary people and gender non normative identities, or includes these groups. 3. Promote accessible spaces for people unfamiliar with feminisms; women, children, youth, the elderly, men. 4. Develop strategies against fascism. 5. Be participatory, collaborative and have cross-cutting themes (sport, nature, education, etc.). 6. Take place outside Lisbon’s center, in peripheral regions, where the space and production were previously facilitated by the proponent.
