Imagine instead of Cloud, it's Tifa who decides to join SOLDIER. Does she make it?
If she does, does she like her new friends?
Absolutely she makes it. I can't envision a version where she doesn't. Tifa is tough, incredibly strong, fast and hits hard.
I think an interesting question is, who would be her mentor? Of course I WANT it to be Sephiroth but I also wonder what the dynamics would be like if Genesis chose to take her under his wing before his madness. And how would Tifa's cool head and ability to see directly through bullshit would influence his actions.
I also love the idea of Sephiroth gravitating towards her as someone who's shockingly, unexpectedly powerful. And of course I adore this ship so I imagine romantic tensions, especially if she doesn't go until she's appropriately aged.
Angeal I definitely feel would adore Tifa as a colleague. He'd appreciate her stability in the chaos of his brothers.
And of course Cloud! Cloud cloud cloud. Does she go WITH him? Does he still not make it even with her influence? Does he find peace with this?
Please tell me what you think about it too!

well, I am pretty sure someone already wrote something on this, but Sephiroth is a perfect SOLDIER not only because he is physically of intellectually superior, but because he is mostly stripped of ANY agency - bred and raised by the corporation and forced to be alone just to maintain the lack of it I am pretty sure that this was the main reason why Hollander decided not to try to use him to treat Genesis's degradation, because his friendship with Genesis and Angeal was a serious threat to his obedience, and getting rid of the "defective" SOLDIERS was a price SHINRA was ready to pay for Sephiroth And this comes to be true - the only time he finally gets his agency is when he decides not to fight his only friends in Crisis Core and to do his research in SHINRA mansion He succumbs to JENOVA not only because he sees her as his abused mother, but because ones who mattered and ones who made him get back his agency are dead, and he was litterally born and raised to give up his agency, and JENOVA just gave him his purpose back again Somehow even if it is not really correct I consider Sephiroth a perfect example of an unconventional yet beautiful depiction of a subaltern - while we see him at first in a position of power he is both alienated, ignored and owned by the corporation who speaks for him and ignored by his fellow crew members because of his Otherness-ish I am not sure though, and its still a theory butttttt
