Pyramid and Melusine are much easier this go-round. In the Pyramid I can throw money at anything problematic; Melusine is just a matter of waiting for her to Barrier Change and become vulnerable to physical attacks, then I throw money at her until she dies. Samurai is ridiculously powerful but kinda boring.

I even do Wendigo because A) Why Not and B) I want the Assassin’s Dagger as well as Sasuke’s Katana, the Masamune, and the Flame Whip. Whenever you hit the false targets they hit your whole party with Frost so Zeninage can be a bad idea here. However, Faris has the Ice Shield and Frost heals her, soooo...

For those not in the know, the FFV Fiesta is an annual charity event in which hundreds of people do a play through of Final Fantasy Five with the classes, or jobs, they can use restricted to those randomly assigned by the fiesta. The charity du jour is Child’s Play:  www.childsplaycharity.org which is a group that goes around trying to make children with chronic illnesses hospital stays a little more bearable. Good stuff.

For funsies, I thought I’d record my playthrough and share it with you, dear Tumblr. I’ll be doing it in a Let’s Play Lite kinda format, in that I’ll be working on the assumption that you know the storyline already and only be talking about gameplay stuff: bosses/significant encounters/jokes. Due to this, the whole thing should be relatively spoiler free, but I’m still putting a big ol’ SPOILER WARNING on here anyway. If any of that interests y’all, then please:

Playing FINAL FANTASY V for the Four Job Fiesta Charity!

Not even sure if this will work, and the audio quality might be poor.

Because my available jobs for this four job fiesta are Beastmaster, Beastmaster, and Geomancer, with my Dragoon tasked with doing in the Minotaur.  Any physical attack results in him autocasting Return, and Gaia attacks count as physicals.  He does not mute or stop himself with any regularity, and my team has no reliable way of doing much physical damage during these very small windows.  I can’t chip away at his HP because he heals himself with far too much regularity.  Breath Wing, which is the way I deal with monsters with way more HP than I can quickly reduce, is, I believe, a physical move–if it’s not, I really need to know–and in any case, I’ve yet to find a monster that yields it upon release in world 3.  Monsters which use Magic Hammer upon release, which would in theory reduce his MP to a much more manageable 5000 if used thrice, are, according to Gamefaqs, all the way the Cleft of Dimensions section five, and I don’t believe my team is equipped to get that far. MP stalling is the only remaining tactic I can think of, and one which I was told was viable, although I assume having an emulator where you can manipulate battle speed is a vital part of it.  

Now, normally, I’d just say “fuck it”–in fact, that’s just what I’ve decided to do, after giving up on Omniscient–but it means having to make up for the lost exp. with more grinding, and I *hate* grinding.
