The Gruagach Mhara [Scottish/Celtic mythology]

The Glaistig is a fey creature from Scottish folktales. These beings resemble human women, usually with long blond hair. (They are also usually portrayed with hooves and sometimes with elf-like pointy ears but I am not sure how old or accurate those additions are, as they’re not mentioned in any sources I could find.)

They were often dressed in green (note that bright green clothes were considered to be a sign of supernatural creatures) and were usually not malicious. The Gruagach is related to the Glaistig, being a regional variant of the same myth, and the Gruagach Mhara is a specific type of these creatures.

Specifically, the Gruagach Mhara was related to the ocean and was considered a kind of sea spirit. She lived on the island of Tiree, which she inhabited long before humans first set foot on the isle. Much like the traditional Glaistig, she was a pretty woman with long blond hair, but it was incredibly rare to see her as she tended to avoid people.

The Tigh an Eilein, which translates roughly to ‘island house’ was a residence on the isle and it was said to be haunted by the Gruagach Mhara. She could often be heard working in the attic rooms, performing all sorts of tasks, but the door to the room where she was working was always closed so people could never catch a glimpse of her.

The Gruagach Mhara valued order and cleanliness and would make sure to clean the entire building whenever guests would arrive. She was also known to punish servants and workers who were lazy and neglected their chores.

And I wanted to still show her I cared about her

Imagine an entire species of lawyers that are extremely petty. Should you break any rule near them no matter how miner then they will own you name, body, and soul. Plus they have rules of there own that must be followed such as the laws of hospitality. If you are seen as rude then that counts as breaking the rules.
