SHE JUST FELT A LITTLE BAD FOR LYING to her dad that she had to use the bathroom and would be right back to be there with him, but instead, she snuck away. Now at home, she sat curled up near the edge of her bed while rain drizzled against the window, drowned her sobs that she tried to swallow. No, she couldn't watch. Couldn't sit there in the hospital and pretend everything was okay. The waiting, seeing her mother on this machine, seeing her blood going in and out through tubes. It was more than scary.
