Feldspar's recording on Giant's Deep mentions their eagerness to report back to Hornfels, their note on Brittle Hollow addresses Hornfels, affectionately calling them a burnt marshmallow, and some of their dialogue in the Bramble acknowledges Hornfels' concern for them and their ship, and involves them doing an impression of Hornfels' voice.

Working through Echoes of the Eye is kind of funny because, at a certain point, the perspective completely flips and you realize Hatchling is actually kind of the antagonist.
Like, imagine you're stuck in this simulation, mourning your home moon and fearing for the fate of the universe, and then there's just this little four-eyed blue thing in sopping wet socks scuttling through your homes and turning your lights off. I would lose my shit, too
