“Do you ever wish you could change them?” Feil asks, voice husky and secretive, like she thinks your answer might cause some sort of scandal. Her fingertips stroke slowly over every dip and ridge in your spine that she can reach, avoiding the root muscles of your wings. Warm as you are, with your head pillowed in her lap and your eyelids heavy, it’s hard to search yourself for an honest answer. Sometimes you think it would be easier if you could lie like the humans, just to save yourself the effort of explaining things.

“Do you wish you could change them?” You ask instead, because Feil obviously wants to talk about that. She wants your answer too, you don’t doubt it, but Feil is very fond of herself.
