Just took the Brooklyn 99 (B99) Character test, and the results say that I am a Jake. Am I really a Jake or am I just making it appear that I am a Jake?

Jake Peralta is one of the main characters of B99. For me, he is the best detective of their precinct. What’s likeable about his character is his humor. Jake is funny just because he is. It’s his way of thinking, witty comebacks, and catch phrases. During the first seasons, he seems childlike and immature. Maybe it’s because he grew up in a not so good household. Well, IDK. However, as the show progresses, Jake shows character development as he matures along the way. Pero it’s a long long way pa kasi he placed their family car as a reward for a bet between him and Scully during the Jimmy Jab Games (oops spoilers). Well, enough of that.

Me, all my life I always tried to be funny. I like making people happy. I don’t know the reason why. Sometimes I think that probably I did not receive that much of affirmation as a growing up that’s why I try to be funny so that people will like me. I moved past that phase, I think, the seeking approval phase. What I am now, is what is really me.

I often think that my character is just the summation of the characters of people around me which I liked and adopt. I refuse to think that way because I might actually believe that that’s true and that I don’t really have my “own” character. Well, that’s that. Life is not a sitcom naman. 

I am just fun because I like having fun. Well, not all the time naman. Pero, that’s that. Right now, I am trying to outgrow some old habits like laughing at serious moments, making insensitive comments, and the like. As much as possible, I try to be more like Amy Santiago. Mas better siguro kung gaya niya ‘yong personality ko. I am not that organized, but I’m trying to be. Well, that’s life naman, we always need to try and be better day by day even if it’s difficult and some days you just want to lie down and rest for a while.
