Silent Barrage, Neurotics Collective (Phil Gamblen and Guy Ben-Ary) from the Australian art-science lab SymbioticA in collaboration with Steve Potter, a neuroengineer at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, 2010.
Cameras mounted on robotic poles monitor people's movements through a mechanical jungle, and, using motion-tracking technology, this information is fed back to electrodes that stimulate cultured neurons in a Petri dish hundreds to thousands of miles away. As a result, the installation creates a feedback loop between the exhibition visitors and the neurons.

hiiii guys,,!!
this isn’t kny content, but ive finally finished chapter one for my original story that I’ve been working on for over a year now!! it’s about two childhood friends reconnecting, masculinity and sexuality, and confronting the reality of change. it’s set in 2003 in a shitty garage punk rock band, and i have a lot of fun writing messy people interacting and changing one another. the story means a lot to me, and it would really mean so so much if you guys gave it a read or boosted it!! 🥹🥹 ily guys !!

This image shows the constant feedback loop between the body and brain. Sensory input from vision, balance, the neck, and the body, especially the feet, is processed by the nervous system, which then sends motor commands to create movement. Each movement feeds new information back to the brain, refining posture, balance, and coordination over time.

Try this exercise: Stand barefoot with feet hip-width apart. Gently turn your head left and right while keeping your eyes focused on a fixed point in front of you. Slowly shift your weight from one foot to the other, feeling the pressure through the soles of your feet. Move smoothly and stay relaxed. Continue for 60–90 seconds, breathing calmly. This exercise links vision, vestibular input, neck proprioception, and foot awareness, helping the brain organise sensory information and improve balance, posture, and movement control.
