J : JEALOUSY. does your muse get jealous in a relationship?

My relationship with Liza is actually my first official relationship, but when I was...sort of with Asher I would get jealous. I hated that he'd give others more attention than me. And with Liza... I don't know. I guess I was afraid that I wasn't good enough for her since I wasn't good enough for Asher. So I was jealous of Jackson and I do get jealous sometimes still. I know it's probably dumb because Liza and I are married, but yeah... I do get jealous.

on boring days that offered little more than schoolwork and studying (blech), duckie would do just about anything for a little entertainment. the ship had far too few places to skate, but she still managed to sail down the deck of the ship on her board. maybe a little too fast, considering she hit an errant rock and fell face first into the nearest person, one jackson seo. “we’ve gotta stop meeting like this,” she joked as she caught her breath, laughing at herself a little sheepishly from having fallen in front of the pro.

while the beginning of the semester had jumpstarted duckie’s unyielding need for calamity and cheer, there had been one slight sticking point. every time she saw jackson seo, something in her chest stung a little bit. there was no reason for it, at least on the surface. on the surface, they were two friends who knew each other better than almost anyone else, two peas in a pod. their public relationship had been sweet, supportive, and saved both of them a world of scrutiny that neither of them wanted. even their “break up” had been mutual, born out of an understanding that both of them deserved something real. below the surface, seeing jack sent duckie reeling into a slideshow of memories; movies watched together, meals shared, first kisses. ending up at the same school had stunted duckie’s plan to forget about jack and even now, even after quote unquote “moving on”, a part of her was always reaching out to him. “if it isn’t the famous jackson seo!” she called out across the mini golf course when she recognized his figure in the near distance. “you wouldn’t want to play a game with me, would you?” she asked with a nod to the course, the impulse of it taking the more reasonable part of her by surprise. it really was too bad that side of her never won out.
