Evening came quickly, despite the fact that the cafe had been empty for the entire day. It was the middle of the week, their busiest days weren’t typically until the weekend or the mornings. The cafe, with its windows painted with “Astro Cafe” in big letters, was usually a hot spot with a select few people in the city, just a meeting place when they had nowhere else to be. The owner, Sal, was proud of his establishment. He spent every day in there, even on Sunday when the cafe was closed, just to keep things running. He had a few employees at one point, but came down to just one he could trust, a young man fresh out of college who was only looking to work part time. He was just over 18, and spent more evenings like this particular one in the cafe than he would have liked. But, at least it was quiet.

Elijah Kamski stood behind the counter, making calculations on his tablet. He had dreams, ambitions much higher than his simple job in that cafe. His research was dedicated to his AI studies, but after he sank all of his grant money into a location for his company, he had nothing left to live off of. Thankfully, he met the cafe owner during one of his networking events and they hit it off pretty well. Sal was supportive of Elijah, he was happy to help him however he needed, so long as the young boy worked hard enough. 

By the time the sun had set, Elijah knew he should have just shut everything down and gone home. But, it was quiet once he turned off the music. It was something he didn’t get in his apartment. Plus, once the rain started to come down hard against the windows, he really wasn’t going anywhere. It was a soothing sound, and he didn’t want to get soaked before he made it home. So, leaning over the counter, mumbling numbers and his notes to himself as he typed, he passed the time.

Out of all the people in this bar, Gavin was probably one of the least cuddly. So having an arm thrown around him was more startling than anything. He nearly threw a punch... but luckily for Hana, he managed to recognize her before he did something stupid. 

Gavin just stiffened and narrowed his eyes at her, completely confused. He was only lightly buzzed, not fully drunk, and he was still in his right mind enough to know it didn’t make sense for her to drape herself over him like this. Well, when she was sober, anyway.
